Any thoughts? I'm absolutely stuck for boys names still. Really want something slightly unusual but not weird.

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Some cats get the coolest names ProfessorCalculus (I looked after a cat called Digby a few years ago, but I would still consider it for a child, Percy on the other hand is firmly in the cat category for me).

My current fantasy cat's name list includes Humphrey and Ambrose. Might add Oswald to the list.

RachePache · 17/02/2009 15:25

Themasterandmargaritas - don't know, maybe? The friend concerned is an expat, that might help?

I like it - it's a nice name. Cool without being weird.

ProfessorCalculus · 17/02/2009 15:18

Liked it pre-cat.

ProfessorCalculus · 17/02/2009 15:17

Jasper is our cat's name, therefore for me it will forever be a cat-name.
I like it pre-cat though. And Casper. DP vetoed both.

Lilymaid · 17/02/2009 15:16

Oh Sir Jasper do not touch me! He will go down well at the local rugby club.

ClaraJo · 17/02/2009 15:14

I was at school with a really cool bloke whose ginger hair earned him the nickname Jasper (Carrot [top]). But I didn't realise for some years that it wasn't his real name - I thought Jasper sounded far more glamorous!

Themasterandmargaritas · 17/02/2009 15:05

RachePache are we friends?

marialuisa · 17/02/2009 15:04

I know a 40 something Jasper who hates the name. The upper class twit element in a rough school was hard to cope with, although I think names are a bit more varied now so maybe less of an issue.

MrsMattie · 17/02/2009 15:03

I really don't like it. There are a few Jaspers around this way and it has a distinctly pretentious ring to it to my ears.

RachePache · 17/02/2009 15:02

a friend has a Barnaby and a Jasper

Themasterandmargaritas · 17/02/2009 15:02

We have one, it's cool. We call him Jas. Obviously I am a middle class twit. Now Ned that sounds very definitely working class and down at heel to me, but hey ho each to their own

Btw I also have a Barnaby. I like Jude from your list too.

cece · 17/02/2009 14:59

DH liked Jasper when I was pg. My DS is at school with one. It suits him. I said no to it because that is what we used to call wasps when we were small...

How about Piers, DH has vetoed it for us but you can have it if you like!

evamummy · 17/02/2009 14:56

Pollyanna - is everyone who is not middle class a 'twit'? Would you also say 'a bit working class twit'???

Pollyanna · 17/02/2009 14:23

I don't particularly like Jasper I'm afraid - a bit upper class twit like for me, but I do really like barnaby and gabriel (vetoed by dh for ds2 though), and Arthur and Felix too. We ended up with Ned (Edward).

blue27 · 17/02/2009 14:19

Loving Bruno, Rufus, Digby... Definitely on the sme wavelength as sme of you

Girls names seem easier somehow, audley, and I must admit (although I wouldn't to anyone else) that I'm secretly hoping for a girl... 20 week scan coming up soon and I can't decide whether to find out or not...

Girls names I love:

Grace
Estella
Scarlett
Florence
Ruby
Lily
Violet

Some really common now I know; I hate that!

I like all your names! (also lurve Rufus)

LuLuBai · 17/02/2009 14:09

Oooooh Rufus & Digby are inspired.

Forgot to suggest Casper.

Meglet · 17/02/2009 14:02

yes yes yes, Jasper is wonderful! it was on my short list.

I also have a thing about the name Bruno

audley · 17/02/2009 14:01

I really like Jasper and I have a Barnaby, who nearly had Jude as mn. I also like Rufus, Digby, Milo, Gabriel, Arthur.

Can I ask what girls names you considered/ are considering? I really struggle with girls names...

Wheelybug · 17/02/2009 13:46

I really like Jasper but DH doesn't. SO use it, please !!

LuLuBai · 17/02/2009 13:44

I love ALL your names! Jasper and Gabriel would be my faves, followed by Max. I also like Julian, Casper, Jago, Ned, Milo, Miles, Aubrey....

(more names will come to me, will get back to you).

evamummy · 17/02/2009 13:44

Jasper is lovely - I prefer it to Gabriel and Jude (both of which sound a little feminine imo).

Also quite like Barnaby.

Don't call him Max(imilian) - there are loads of them around... Jasper is MUCH more elegant, stylish and unique than Max imo!

SmallShips · 17/02/2009 13:41

I think Jasper is nicer than the other 3, don't like any of them tbh.

ellingwoman · 17/02/2009 13:41

Barnaby - good
Oscar
Rex
Corey
Jody

blue27 · 17/02/2009 13:38

Thanks. I think I like it but not quite sure. Has anyone got any suggestions along the same lines ie a little unusual but not silly? I was also kind of considering Barnaby, Jude and Gabriel. All my DH will consider is Max!
