Does Andrew sound old-fashioned?

Andrew is a lovely name!

I really do not like Andrew as I am surrounded by Andys in my life and bored to death with the name.

With RachePache here! Am young as mothers go (20) but I'm huge on the "dad" names - Mark, Paul, John, Andrew, Stephen etc etc.

I like Andrew with Drew for short. Also like Jacob, Luke, Zachary and Stephen.

Classic name, especially in Scotland of course which is full of Andrews often called Andy or Drew. I have an Uncle Andy but my DH is always Andrew in full ,NEVER EVER Andy! Andy, Dave and Steve, common as muck in my generation would be unique in a class full of Kaydens (ugh!) Maxs and Joshuas!A friend called her son John a few years ago and I thought, 'gosh he'll be unique' although it is my least favourite classic boys name.

Andrew is a good, solid name, not old fashioned at all. I know a 3 yr old one!

I came across a baby called John a while back and though 'how unusual' - whereas I come across a Stanley or a Noah and think 'not another one'...

Andrew is a lovely classic name. Don't worry about it being fashionable/common names come and go all the time.

Lulu - no not a joke. It dates back to the middle ages I think so definitely timeless.

It will come back-it is much better to have a classic than a name of the moment that will really date DCs later on-e.g Wayne.

There don't seem to be many little Andrews about now, so has the advantage of being a really nice name and not too common. Lots of different things to do with it too, if he wants to shorten it. Very good choice. Also wouldn't worry about the rhyming ews because one of them is bound to shorten somehow or other.

I like it. But my DB is called Andrew so I'm biased.

Like it. Don't hear it much for new babies. It's my dad's name.

I have a J ohn and a Dav id (known as Dav y) so I'm a big fan of slightly old fashioned dad-rather-than-granddad names for boys. I love it. Also love Michael, Peter, Anthony, Nicholas, Stephen, Matthew etc etc

Andrew is a perfectly good, solid, reliable name. Absolutely nowt wrong with Andrew. Several people I know have had Edwards lately and I think it is in a very similar vein to that (and not just cos the Queen has one of each either).
