We don't know what we're having yet but really don't love any girls names.

We both liked Morgan. Dh still really wants it but i've gone off it. Was never really sure about it anyway because of the unisex thing

Already have a ds called Lewis. Have a long surname, 3 syllables, beginning with C.

Help me at least make a list. Not that dh will probably like anything that i like

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Yes dizzy i like Rhian (can't remember if dh did or not) but wasn't sure if it was a 'real' name

kitsmummy time we stood up for ourselves!!!

Phoenix - if you like Rhiannon what about Rhian as a shorter alternative? or sian, thats pretty

Ellis is nice
Arwyn
lyra

kitsmummy · 16/02/2009 19:15

dizzydixie, that's the same as my DH, hence why we ended up with Orla!

SalmonintheLiffey · 16/02/2009 19:00

Olwen

BlueChampagne - We like Rhiannon but it's too long and surname ends with 'son' so it doesn't sound right.

Kitsmummy - I only like Skye from your list but dh doesn't.

Peppapig - Lucy, Leah, Laura, Lara close to ds' name/same initial. Sophie too popular and dh doesn't like it. Already have 2 Emmas in the family. Friend has Chloe. Cousins Abby and Kelsie. Erin already on my list.

God this is hard. Will be much easier if the baby is a boy

dizzydixies · 16/02/2009 17:18

kitsmummy you and I have very similar taste but DH would not budge and inch on Clementine, Cleo or kitty

we now have a Cordelia

kitsmummy · 16/02/2009 17:06

My favourites:

Orla (my dd)
Clementine
Skye
Cleo
Kitty

Do any of those appeal?

BlueChampagne · 16/02/2009 16:55

I'll trot out my usual list:

Tamsin
Rosanne
Rhiannon
Meryl
Meredith
Helen(a)
Corinna

I like Thea too, and Clea.

Amelia is really growing on me but dh is still on hmmm. Our niece is called Millie so we couldn't shorten it to that, that's why i think Mia as a shortening.

Ok some i like are

Erin
Eden
Matilda (Tilly) - Dh really doesn't like.
Amelia (Mia)
Mia
Maya
Isabelle (Izzy)
Imogen
Alanna
Isla
Thea
Neve

Think some of them are too long to go with long surname.

Dh is been a PITA because he won't really give any opinions on any names i suggest (could be because he was set on Morgan)

I've got my 20wk scan a week on Wednesday and we are planning on finding out the sex so then we'll know if we actually need a girls name or not

dizzydixies · 16/02/2009 12:57

Phoenix my dneice is Megan and its NEVER been shortened, not even by her friends

I wouldn't worry about not being welsh, my DD3, as I've already mentioned, is called Dylan which is not only more commonly used for boys but its also welsh

is there anything you like but wouldn't use? you haven't really given up a huge amount to go on!

PlumBumMum · 16/02/2009 12:49

My name can be shortened but my mum was so admant when I was young that I was not to be called it, that nobody ever did
Ocassionly people ask me do I get called it, I just say no
Actually haven't been asked for a long time

Phoenix · 16/02/2009 12:45

Megan was on the list if ds has been a girl but i hate Meg and it would get shortened to that by someone.

Cies · 16/02/2009 12:02

Megan?

Phoenix · 16/02/2009 11:46

Hi, sorry i got caught up in the ghost story thread.

We kind of settled on Rhys Joseph for a boy but i'm really liking Noah as well now although dh isn't as keen it.

No we're not Scottish just liked Lewis . We're English so not sure about Rhys (Welsh) but don't like the Reece spelling

OP posts:
MrsBadger · 16/02/2009 11:07

Fiona? Orla?

dizzydixies · 16/02/2009 10:53

whar about Morven? Its similar, goes nicely with Lewis and is a girls name.

FWIW I have 3 DD and my third has a name more commonly used for a boy and it suits her right down to the ground so if thats what you want just use it

are you scottish with a Lewis? are you looking for something else Scottish or not bothered? you could have Eiligh, Isla, Iona, Skye, Mhairi or Muiranne etc

what boys names have you picked so we can get a feel for the kind of names you like
