Luke is good. Hate Jayden (I agree with others that it sounds chavvy - sorry!)

My son's (age 11) class is full of Oliver's

ilovesprouts · 08/02/2009 16:18

i like them all my its up to you at the end of the day

Wolfblass · 08/02/2009 13:52

Oliver

(i agree with headfairy about Jayden)

FairLadyRandySlut · 08/02/2009 13:24

oh, and I think the biblic version is Jadon, not Jayden

FairLadyRandySlut · 08/02/2009 13:22

Hm, really like Oliver..., but prefer Lucas over Luke, sorry....and whilst I do like the sound of Jayden....it does sound more like a girlname....Kaden is nice though, and definitely a boys name

Katonahottinroof · 08/02/2009 13:20

Oliver is lovely and would be on my list.

Luke is ok, nice enough but not my favourite

Have to agree with pps about Jayden - a bit rough but doesn't matter if you love it - it's not the kind of name that will cause him issues or anything.

xx

Sidge · 08/02/2009 13:20

Oliver with Luke as a middle name. Goes really well with Charlie.

Jayden is just awful. Sorry.

Marthasmama · 08/02/2009 13:12

Oliver - it's lovely, we have one! Plus it goes really well with Charlie. My ds loves his name.

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 08/02/2009 13:12

Oliver

ComeWhineWithMe · 08/02/2009 13:11

Oliver

RockinSockBunnies · 08/02/2009 13:08

I like Oliver too.

I think one of Britney Spears' sons is called Jayden - it's a bit 'trailer trashy' IMO.

chaya5738 · 08/02/2009 13:01

I like Oliver.

Jayden is AWFUL (for all the reason listed above)

Tidey · 08/02/2009 12:23

Another vote for Oliver.

ForeverOptimistic · 08/02/2009 12:22

Oliver

DontSwimInTheLiffey · 08/02/2009 12:00

I don't think a name which is a bible name as well as an actual book from the bible and a Saint's name can really be considered Chavy. And my chav radar is out on stalks and brutally harsh and unforgiving.

ps., steffi just texted me. She regrets calling her son Jayden. She wishes she'd gone with Tim or Greg or Pete or Ivan like I suggested to her.

MrsGrahamBell · 08/02/2009 11:57

He wil hate you forever if you saddle him with Jayden... whenever there is a chavvy news story, like the poor baby savaged by his grandmother's dog the the poor kid seems to be called Jayden or similar.

Jayden - no. Will date him. This was trendy about 5 yrs ago. V popular in America. Steffi Graf and Andre Agassi's child is called this.
Oliver - ok, classic, bit feminine.
Luke - yes. Choose Luke.

artichokes · 08/02/2009 11:54

Oliver = lovely
Luke = fine, but I prefer Lucas.
Jayden = horrible. I will get flamed for using this term but its chav-tastic.

MmeLindt · 08/02/2009 11:51

Isn't Steffi Graf's son Jayden?

janeite · 08/02/2009 11:50

Am very surprised to see Luke described as "chavvy".

GossipMonger · 08/02/2009 11:45

Jayden is a form of Jaden which is Biblical and means 'Jehovah has heard.'

Flightattendant12 · 08/02/2009 11:43

Yes Edam I wonder where it came from? Was it a made up name?

I know loads of people with sons called Lee-Jay or Lee-James as well. That puzzles me. It must be fashionable I think.

piscesmoon · 08/02/2009 11:43

Oliver or Luke. Jayden is horrible (+I thought it was a girl's name).

hippipotamiHasLostTwoPounds · 08/02/2009 11:42

I have an Oliver. He is 9.
In his yeargroup at school (large school so 90 children per year) he has never ever come across another Oliver. In fact, in the whole school of 300 children there are only 2 Olivers.
In all his out of school drama clubs, Beavers then Cubs, swimming lessons etc, we have never come across another Oliver.

We come across far more boys called Luke (at ds's school there are 12 out of 300 children)

And as for Jayden, very artificial, a bit rough and a bit 'chavvy' (sorry, not sure how else to describe it)
