Is Agatha hideous??!!

I love the name Agatha, it stirs up all sorts out fabulous Art Deco images for me and I imagine a daughter called Agatha to be all independence and intellect. However, every single person I've suggested this to has reacted either with a choked back giggle or a fingers down the throat look - is it my hormones? Is it truly hideous?!

Love it!

One of my cats is called Agatha, 'tis a name I could never use for a child because the Dutch aren't very good at pronouncing the TH sound. Hence giving it to the cat

Nancy is my favourite old fashioned name now.

i know a 10 yr old agatha, i like it, and it suits her and she is lovely

It's gorgeous - i know a 28 yr old Agatha, and a 4 yr old one, they are both lovely people.

I like it and would have had it for dd2 but dh hates it! Like all names that are not common it is a matter of personal taste - go for it and I'm sure that your daughter will make it beautiful to everyone you know!
I like Agnes too.

Yes, it's horrid.

Even worse in French (Agathe) though, and it's relatively common here.

Just feel that they would have a lot to live up to if they called something like that

Bit like Edith Bowman or Vernon Kay - have to be uber cool and might not be able to pull it off

Not really keen myself.
