What do you think about Sebastian for DS2? DS1's name is Henry.

Ohh MissBlythe - will you share? I have an extensive girls list but am really struggling for boys.

shoobidoo · 02/02/2009 21:32

Basti may be a little too similar to Bastard...well, for silly school aged children so could lead to teasing.

missblythe · 02/02/2009 15:42

I love it, and love the nickname Basti or Bastien too.

Is one of our MANY boy names for DC2, in fact

Bubbaluv · 02/02/2009 12:42

How funny! Not one of them had picked up on that! Should I break it to them?

LadyBee · 02/02/2009 11:46

NorthernLurker, how odd, we had Beatrice for a girl, found it was a boy and now have a Benedict

PeachyBAHonsPRSCertOnRequest · 02/02/2009 10:59

Had to LOL at a lot of thee- I also liked Benedict but Dh vetoed that

PeachyBAHonsPRSCertOnRequest · 02/02/2009 10:58

DS4 is Sebastian- lots of positive comments

Adore it. We shorten to Bas (so SN ds3 can pronounce it)

lastboxoftampons · 02/02/2009 10:53

Ah, but Bubbaluv, the boy in the Neverending Story wasn't Sebastian - his name was Bastian! One of my favorite movies as welleven though I'm slightly older than the 28-29 catchment!

Frasersmum123 · 01/02/2009 21:26

I like Sebastian, but not really keen on Seb as it reminds me of Seb Coe and I find him a little annoying. I wanted Sebastian for DS2 but DS1 really liked 'The Little Mermaid' for a while and it put me off!

janeite · 01/02/2009 20:57

I love the name Sebastian but don't like Seb or Baz at all.

Bubbaluv · 01/02/2009 20:55

What about Bas (Baz) as an alternate shortening, as in Baz Lurman?

I like it, and if my younger sister and her group of friends are anything to go by it is about to become v popular. I went out for drinks with them about a year ago and they were talking baby names. It seems that they are ALL going to have a Sebastian. I asked how on earth the name had such a hold over such a diverse group of girls and almost in unison they cried out "Sebastian...say..my...naaaaame!" which is apparently the big line from The Never Ending Story (remember the movie?)

Apparently this had a big impact on the group of girls who are currently 28/29 and approaching child baring territory.

emkana · 01/02/2009 20:11

My ds is called Sebastian.

He is actually called Sebbie most of the time atm. I think Seb sounds quite cool when he's older, and Sebastian is a good name for a serious professional person

shoobidoo · 01/02/2009 20:07

I feel the problem with the name is that its just a little too long (3 syllables) that you'd never say it in full. Unfortunately, the short form Seb isn't very nice nor very masculine sounding imo.

lastboxoftampons · 01/02/2009 18:37

My DH is Sebastian - I like it, but it's such a big name for a little baby and I don't really like Seb (even though that's what I call him all the time, except for when I'm talking to his mother, who always says his whole name)

AnnVan · 01/02/2009 18:20

I have a Sebastian! (I love it!) Our other boys' name we like is Edward, so if we have a DS2 he will probably be Ed.

ChippyMinton · 01/02/2009 17:23

No no no - it is getting far too popular.

othersideofchannel · 01/02/2009 11:25

I like Sebastian, but I'm not keen on Seb - always reminds me of sebaceous (oily).

ScorpiowithabigS · 01/02/2009 11:19

I love Sebastian!

serenity · 01/02/2009 11:17

Dominic, Sebastian and Benedict were my absolute must-have boy names when I was younger, but were vetoed by DH on the grounds that they were 'too posh' sighs

I don't think they are, I think they're lovely

RobertPattinsonComeToMomma · 01/02/2009 10:29

Fab name!I would have loved one but dh vetoed!

MrsSeanBean · 01/02/2009 10:25

I like it

SniffyHock · 01/02/2009 10:24

LOL Marmaduke - your MIL and I are kindred spirits!! I have been pushing for Dominic but DH is having none of it!
He wants James which is really lovely but I have an Edward and I still really love his name and want something I love as much IYSWIM.
Sorry to hijack your thread Ireguina!

ADealingMummy · 01/02/2009 10:18

Definitely a great name and goes really well with Henry.

MrsMattie · 01/02/2009 10:10

I really like Sebastian and Seb. Very nice and goes well with Henry.

MarmadukeScarlet · 01/02/2009 10:08

I actually wanted Dominic or Benedict but DH veto'd them on the grounds that his mother used to have 3 dachshounds, 2 called D and B.

It was only after registering DS he confessed the 3 Dachshound had been called Sebastian!
