Brooke- girl
Reece -boy
this is my first child due start of april just wondered what you thought of these names

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
EldonAve · 16/01/2009 22:27

not keen on Brooke - makes me think of Brooke Hogan

Sycamoretree · 16/01/2009 22:26

to me I would rhyme the way you have written fuck, "fook" like spook.

The queen would rhyme brooke with book, but not with duck and fuck, the latter she would pronounce the U sound closer to an A sound.

Hulababy · 16/01/2009 21:13

Not keen on either.

Am in Yorkshire. Duck and book rhyme here. So do but and put.

bronze · 16/01/2009 21:01

Those who think they rhyme. Are they brooke and fook or bruck and fuck if the Queen was saying it. Just interested if you all say the same?

lalalonglegs · 16/01/2009 20:50

Too American - apologies if you are American

Pinkchampagne · 16/01/2009 20:44

Don't like either name really, sorry.

Sycamoretree · 16/01/2009 20:40

Well, you can have that one for free Bobo

Botbot · 16/01/2009 20:28

Well I say it Bottbott, but I'm quite liking Bobo. Mmm, continental!

LadyLiffey · 16/01/2009 20:26

I'm from South Dublin and I speak the best English in the English-speaking World. I can confirm with equal certainty and modesty that Brooke and Fuck rhyme.

ilovetochat · 16/01/2009 20:19

ladyliffey i totally agree with you, brooke rhymes with book, fuck and duck and truck.
i'm from the midlands so def not posh.

LadyLiffey · 16/01/2009 20:06

I have a perfect accent.

KristinaM · 16/01/2009 20:02

they dont rhyme where i coem from

LynetteScavo · 16/01/2009 20:00

LadyLiffey - they don't rhyme - you must have a funny accent!

Are you very posh?

LadyLiffey · 16/01/2009 19:58

I'm confused now, I definitely don't have an ey up me doook accent, but I think that duck and book rhyme.

Brooke rhymes with duck, as well as fuck imo.

but what the brooke do I know?!!

BabyBaby123 · 16/01/2009 19:31

not my cup of tea tbh....

yellowflowers · 16/01/2009 19:25

I like Brooke - doesn't sound like fuck where I am from. It's pretty and a nature name

LoveMyLapTop · 16/01/2009 16:36

Brooke is horrible sounds really harsh
Reece should be spelt Rhys to make it OK

mum2b09 · 16/01/2009 16:28

i love rhys for a boy its in my list atm xxx

Nancy66 · 16/01/2009 16:24

Don't like either. sorry

Sycamoretree · 16/01/2009 16:18

and are you bott bott, or bobo, a la francais?

FatController · 16/01/2009 16:18

Rhys is nice, Brooke less so IMHO. Brooke sounds "chavvy" (sorry to use that word, I know it is hated on these boards, sorry if any of you have little Brookes xx).

Botbot · 16/01/2009 16:15

I'm in the south too, desperately trying to hang onto vestiges of accent after 18 years!

dd gets confused - she says 'barth' when talking to (southern) dp and 'bath' when talking to me. And despite her having a south-east london accent, she still says 'Mummy' with a northern one.

Sycamoretree · 16/01/2009 16:07

Laughing because my accent started life like botbots but has drifted south as I have, so this one's got me in a right pickle!

Sometimes it's barth, and some it's bath (like faff).

Very confusing for my DC's, who are similarly bi-accented

Botbot · 16/01/2009 16:07

Rhys is very nice though.

Hayao · 16/01/2009 16:05

Not in mine. No sirree.

Choose names you like and never ask anybody's opinion.
