I am in south wales, and know lots of Millies but not so many Amelias

mazzystartled · 21/01/2009 21:54

it is very pretty
both names are EXTREMELY popular

ilikeyoursleeves · 21/01/2009 21:51

Lovely names! We're going for Milly if we have a DD

kateus · 21/01/2009 15:29

It's a lovely name, don't worry about whether it's popular or not.
My granny was called Amelia, and her name was shortened to Min or Minnie.
Enjoy your baby xxx

othersideofchannel · 21/01/2009 09:24

Pretty name, but a little dull as you hear it SO often these days...

RachieB · 20/01/2009 23:12

Most Millies i know are just that ! lol

and one other is Millicent

babyneris · 18/01/2009 21:09

Nice.

yemmaly · 18/01/2009 20:45

Regional aside is very popular.
Nothing wrong with it, just a bit dull.

Wilkiepedia · 18/01/2009 20:26

Very pretty

moshie · 18/01/2009 16:20

lol Clarrisimo, I'm in south wales!

ZZZen · 17/01/2009 19:01

Lovely go ahead!

Clarissimo · 17/01/2009 18:56

(No Amelias or millies here in south wales

its that regional thing again

I always say if youre worried about popular names never go by MN- ask your friends etc. It varies far too much!)

Clarissimo · 17/01/2009 18:55

Beautiful name.

nappyaddict · 17/01/2009 18:53

Nice but both names very popular so it depends if you mind that.

wotulookinat · 17/01/2009 16:04

Personally I wouldn't use either names as I just don't like them, but they are popular right now so, if you like them, why not?

CrackopentheBaileys · 17/01/2009 15:54

My dd is Amelia Ava and people quite often comment that it's such a pretty name

chancelloroftheexCHEQUERS · 17/01/2009 15:53

Popular names are popular because they are nice.

Spoo · 17/01/2009 15:42

I think they are lovely names.

Elfrida · 17/01/2009 15:41

Both very popular names.

cheltmum · 17/01/2009 10:48

You say you don't know any Amelias. You'll probably find a lot of the Millies you know are actually Amelias. Sometimes Amelia is shortened to Amy too.

Personally I don't think there's anything wrong with popular names. If you love it, just go for it.

Moominpappa · 16/01/2009 22:12

We have an Emilia Grace!

Lotster · 16/01/2009 18:59

Agree it's a very "now" name, but lovely.

Tinker · 16/01/2009 18:56

I don't think they'll date like Sharon and Tracy. Controversial but, did Sharon and Tracy ever actually sound nice?

Tinker · 16/01/2009 18:54

Pretty but they'll be loads of them

LynetteScavo · 16/01/2009 18:53

Intrepid indeed!

Amelia means "Hardworking" which I think is a nice combination with Grace.
