What do you all think? Came across it in a book and I really like it- pretty and unusual.

KatB - yes Gwenno is a pet name for Gwen I believe and also a shortened version of Gwenllian, but it is also a name in itself. It is also DD's name.

KatB · 08/01/2009 10:16

Gwenno? Sounds like a pet name for Gwen

Quite like Gwen, it's a bit different but not too out there. Not keen on the full Gwendolyn sorry.

loobylu3 · 08/01/2009 10:04

I love both Gwendoline and Gwen. It is a bit old fashioned and certainly unusual here! Prefer the Gwendoline/ Gwendolen spelling also.

I think Gwendolyn is not very nice, but do like Gwen, and Gwinny (which might be short for Gwendolyn, but I thought was from Genevieve, or Gwenevere, which I prefer).

Wallace and Gromit?

TequilaMockinBird · 07/01/2009 21:27

Noooooooo, reminds me of a horrible fat old lady who used to live next door to us when we were children and would stick a knife through our footballs if they went over her fence (amongst other horrid things!)

Barcelonababe · 07/01/2009 21:26

let me know what you think

Tallis · 07/01/2009 21:20

What about the Italian version: Guendalina? Much prettier IMHO...

PixieMoon · 07/01/2009 21:15

Gwennan is another option that I like

CrushWithEyeliner · 07/01/2009 21:12

I like it but prefer Gwyneth or just Gwen

mamalovesmojitos · 07/01/2009 21:02

twee.

MrsMattie · 07/01/2009 20:58

Very pretty and agree - very King Arthur-ish.

sleepyhead3 · 07/01/2009 20:57

Okay- that will be a NO then! I still like it but is seems to have bad associations for lots of people.

spoilt brat from Malory Towers

cory · 07/01/2009 20:25

I'm sorry, all I can hear is the voice of Dame Edith Evans: "Gwendolyn, the carriage!"

mejon · 07/01/2009 20:21

troutpout · 07/01/2009 20:02

that should have been
pushed for Gwendolyn...

BibiThree · 07/01/2009 19:04

I absolutely adore it and one of my girls has Gwen as a middle name. I wish I'd pushed gor Gwondolyn or Gwenllian as a first name now.

jangly · 07/01/2009 19:04

I think its lovely. Sort of King Arthur-ish, or Robin Hood, or something.
