night night, MrsMH! sleep happy now!

MrsMerryHenry · 05/01/2009 00:33

Damn! What's the point of a calendar without George?!

JD does nothing for me either, so we're quits!

I also have an 'older man' thing (Thierry excepted) - maybe that's part of it as I'm sure can't be that much younger than Depp. Georgie, on the other hand, is suitably old-gittish for my liking...

Off to bed now (happy dreams). Night night! xxx

thumbwitch · 05/01/2009 00:28

oooooo, he is just LUSH! (fully aware that word is probably Sooo nineties or something; haven't a clue what the current jargon would be )

Fanks! Tried to return the favour but the calendar website I am using doesn't have one for George!

MrsMerryHenry · 05/01/2009 00:22

late Xmas pressie for ya

thumbwitch · 05/01/2009 00:20

ooh no, now see I've never been much of a fan of Georgie boy - Thierry is a much better class of dream-shag, imho. Although I'd take Johnny Depp any day of the week...

MrsMerryHenry · 05/01/2009 00:12

Not sure, really - partly I think because it makes me sound like a sleb- worshipper. I'm far too sensible for that sort of thing. Having said that I've been wondering about changing to MrsGeorgeClooney but I think that names already taken!

thumbwitch · 05/01/2009 00:03

I like it, I do! Have you given up on Monsieur Thierry then? now he's disappeared a bit?

MrsMerryHenry · 04/01/2009 23:56

Obadiah was the middle name of Sky Masterson from Guys and Dolls (played by Marlon Brando).

Still OTT in 2009, though!

Howdy, thumbwitch! Am considering keeping my Merry name permanently, what do you think?

thumbwitch · 04/01/2009 23:20

Auto-response was ah, Obi Wan Kenobi, but having read the thread I think it is ok. I wouldn't go for the long Bible version of Obadiah, that sounds a bit much; but you might have to be prepared for a fair bit of stick, both for yourselves and him as he grows up.

Fimbo · 04/01/2009 23:15

My next door neighbour's little boy is called Kobi

MrsMerryHenry · 04/01/2009 23:13

Oh, bless you, MrsMattie!

I've been trying to learn it bit by bit over the years and have also taught my white DS the odd phrase or two. I've also taught him all the telling-off words in our tribal language (they're the only ones I know says a lot about my childhood!). He also makes our Nigerian relatives fall about laughing, though he's a show-off by nature so he rather enjoys it!

Thomcat · 04/01/2009 21:28

I really like it.

chocpud · 04/01/2009 21:20

Isn't it short for Obidiah? From the bible? Probably incorrect spelling though.

I like ds1 was nearly an Obi

BabyBaby123 · 04/01/2009 18:22

i feel it should be short for something....

jellybeans · 04/01/2009 18:17

I thought star wars straight away

MrsMattie · 04/01/2009 16:51

I have good 'receptive pidgin' (my ex is Nigerian). I sometimes stand on the bus or in a shop or whatever and eavesdrop on whole conversations by Nigerian people who think 'Ach, the white girl can't understand us!' . I would never attempt to speak it...although a couple of times I completely unconscioiusly did to my ex, which caused him to howl with laughter and actually phone his relatives in Nigeria and make me repeat it to them (the cause of much amusement, apparently!).

MrsMerryHenry · 04/01/2009 16:31

Mahhhhh-ttie. I hope yu ah not lahffing aht my pidgin?

MrsMattie · 04/01/2009 16:26

p.s pmsl@MerryHenry

MrsMattie · 04/01/2009 16:25

I know a guy called Obi. He is half Nigerian... and absolutely beautiful. I think of Obi as a handsome man's name because of that

MrsMerryHenry · 04/01/2009 16:24

to Marmaduke Scarlet

Nighbynight · 03/01/2009 18:14

It is a nice name, but does say DIY to me.

As someone posted below, it's the german B+Q. Apparently they are owned by the same company - what if they decide to re-brand teh UK shops one day???

MarmadukeScarlet · 03/01/2009 18:02

@ MrsT/MH

Lord, what fools these mortals be

seeker · 03/01/2009 15:50

I know an Obi - short for Obidiah. He HATES it. He is so fed up of all the Star Wars stuff. I've had to be very firm with my ds because it's practically irresistible to tease him about it. Please don't do it.

MrsMerryHenry · 03/01/2009 15:41

Oberon!!! How now, proud Oberon!

MarmadukeScarlet · 03/01/2009 11:09

I know an Oberon who is known as Obi, they are ponces though.
