Hello, new here and after opinions on the name Heidi.
Do you think she will get teased too much with the heidi hi /yodeling connotations?

Congratulations Olipop - I'm sure your Heidi is beautiful! I'm really leaning towards it now - starting to think of the baby as being called Heidi now rather than pudding!

Spoilt by Katona

NancysGarden · 09/01/2009 22:47

It's lovely

yama · 09/01/2009 22:34

Ooh, congrats Olipop. You lucky thing - getting to call your dd Heidi.

MrsSanta · 09/01/2009 22:31

I love Heidi, wanted it for ds has he been a girl. dh didn't like it one bit.
Dont think I would of got my own way this time. (did with dd, dh wasnt fussed on her name but now loves it).

lotspot · 09/01/2009 22:28

lovely =]
but then i know an absoloutly gorgeous funny lovable 7yo called heidi, and its the name of a pretty cool relative of mine in her 20s aswell so has great links in my mind

on the kerry katona link - its a "normal" name so really its not that much of an issue in my eyes - it's not really in the league of apple or fifi trixabel which makes everyone instantly think of the celebrities who thought of it first =] doesnt have that instant identifier imo - very much a name that will become lo's own rather than someone elses iyswim

i think im waffling.....

Olipop · 09/01/2009 21:25

I didn't see this thread but thought I'd mention that I had a little girl on the 2nd of Jan and called her Heidi!!!!!! Mrsjuan...I think you have great taste!!!!
I just decided to search the name thread for views on my choice!

mickeymistletoe · 04/01/2009 11:26

I really like it too. the Kerry Katona thing wouldnt bother me at all - she may be a bit of a train wreck at the moment but i think all her children have nice names. like you say - who is going to say to DD in 10 years time - oh like Kerry Katona's daughter!

personally i prefer heidi to phoebe but that is also a very lovely name.

Broodybean · 03/01/2009 09:22

I think of Heidi from the Sugababes first, eventhough heidi was one of my favourite books when i was younger. but I bet a lot of ppl haven't even heard of that book now.

Scarfmaker · 02/01/2009 20:10

There's also Seal's wife actress Heidi Klum.

LiffeySaysHappyNewYear · 02/01/2009 12:10

I agree with chequers, KK, drug-addled mess that she is picked sensible names for her children.

(Molly and Lily too alike for sisters, but individually they are not silly or chavy names).

Wolfblass · 02/01/2009 10:43

Love the name spoilt by the lady of Frozen Iceland

Lovemyshoes · 02/01/2009 09:36

I think it is a lovely name.

I wanted this for dd1, but, if you put it with our surname it sounded like a character out of Harry Potter.

belgo · 02/01/2009 09:20

lovely name

CantSleepWontSleep · 02/01/2009 09:20

One of my faves.

mrsjuan · 02/01/2009 09:06

Thank you for your opinions - I know it's either love it or hate it but the loves seem to outweigh he hates. Both our families like it so that is the main thing. I'm not bothered about the Kerry Katona link - she'll soon be forgotten!
Heidi is actually my husand's top choice. I like it but prefer Phoebe which also seems to divide opinions!

Think it's a lovely name, but surely you should spell it Hydee ?

Have an adult friend called Heidi who loves it too.

ILoveBrucie · 01/01/2009 20:36

Beautiful name for both a child and an adult, I would be quite happy to be called Heidi, celebs call their kids all sorts of names, don't be put off by KK's dd3.

Name your daughter the name you have chosen and love

noonki · 01/01/2009 20:29

I would be gutted to be called heidi as an adult -sorry

Tinker · 01/01/2009 19:00

Love it

chequersandroastedchestnuts · 01/01/2009 18:51

I wouldn't be put off by the Kerry Katona connection. Are Molly, Lily and Max out now too for that reason?

(had to use wikipedia for her kids names btw, didn't know them off the top of my head, I swear!)

Nancy66 · 01/01/2009 18:47

don't like it - just makes you think of a girl in plaits. Possibly cute name for a kid but embarrassing for an adult.

Scarfmaker · 01/01/2009 18:15

My 12 year old daugher's friend is called Heidi and she has never had any problems - I think it's lovely.

AuntieMaggie · 01/01/2009 18:05

I love it. I have a scandinavian friend called Heidi prounounced "hay-dee" rather than "Hi-dee" but love both.

I wouldn't let the fact that Kerry Katona used it put you off. If you did that you'd never find a name and she'll probably be forgotten in a few years.

LiffeySaysHappyNewYear · 01/01/2009 17:56

I like it. It would be a lovely sister name for Greta or Olga or Ingrid or Kirsty.
