Boys name to go with tricky and harsh surname

So the surname is Wellard

We really like William (after dp's grandad) - but i'm rather unsure, does it sound like a mouthfull?

Dad thinks not - as he says it's a strong name like William Wilberforce.

So very, very stuck and would be extremely grateful of your ideas and suggestions. Any other names we have liked / like may well be out of the question.

although both lovely names

if you want something to go with Georgia i think you need a less traditional name TBH

Please don't call the poor kid Cain! Edward Wellard wouldn't be good either.

My list of names for this bump (if a boy) is:

Sol (Solomon)
Roan
Lucas
Rory

I want to call it Rory but DH is being a pain, only likes William or George which are cute but too common IMO.

For the record I have a Jacob and it is only ever shortened to J or JJ (and that is what we want - but no one ever tries to call him Jake or Jack)

So everyone more or less agrees with myself that William and Wellard are just not good together

People never believe me when i say my other half along with his brothers and sisters never got the slightest bit of stick for their surname and neither do our neices or nephews.

I am very keen on Billy - but Mark says it's a definate no no.

We really are struggling with names.

I honestly think Edward Wellard is too much and i'm not keen on the name Edward tbh. Francis is a no from both of us - i love Sebastian he doesn't...

We don't like Richard or Benjamin (as i cannot abide Ben or Rich). Patrick is my grandads name but i really do not like it at all.

under 11 weeks to go and no names at all...

My stepdaughter is over and keeps flinging names out of the baby book

They have both just discovered Zacheriah and Zac for short. They have also mentioned Cain, Jacob (which i like but Mark thinks will be shortened to Jake or Jack both of which puts him off)

Some alliteration can sound good - but William with that surname is overkill.

I would go for a softer boys name which has no repetition with the surname.

Something like:

Sebastian
Francis
Patrick

Why not give him William as his formal name but call him Billy for day to day. Billy Wellard is warm and friendly.

hmmm, DS1 is William which I love but not too sure it goes that well with Wellard.
Although how often do you use your full name anyway?
was going to suggest Richard but not sure Dick Wellard is much good either!
