I'll go first: DD was very nearly Sapphire.

I also really wanted Twm for a boy (Welsh for Tom), but I am not Welsh! I just thought it was fab to have a name with no vowels!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Evangeline.

alicecrail · 27/12/2008 10:51

I wanted Freya too, not allowed. I quite like Bronwen too and Tahlia. Husband had final say and it was none of the above (but very nice all the same!)

LaDiDaDi · 27/12/2008 10:47

Velvet .

Dp liked Blair even bigger !

IAmTheNewQueenOfMN · 27/12/2008 10:44

I liked Freya, which I dont think is that weird, but dh didn't like it

ClementFreudsGreatestAdmirer · 27/12/2008 10:43

ray. as in raaaaaaayyyyyyy, whenever something good happens.

Bumperlicious · 27/12/2008 10:40

Where would I have heard the name T'Panga before? I'm thinking TV programme...?

Loving Fushia!

DontCallMeSantaBaby · 26/12/2008 23:12

Trinity - very boring surname, and thought this would go rather well. There have turned out to be just the three of us, so it would have been quite appropriate (DH's colleague actually used it for his third child, which is differently appropriate).

Xeni - 'little stranger', quite appropriate for any baby! Pre-MN days for me, so no Xenia connotations!

Oooh, Cocoa, I like!

I really wanted Aurora or Aurelia but DH said what if she has a speech impediment and has to say 'Aworwa'

FrannyandZooey · 26/12/2008 22:56

dante

dorcas
polly

can't imagine why dp vetoed these

Siriusmewisathreadkillertoo · 26/12/2008 22:49

OOooh! I'm loving Marius!!! Want it!

jobschmob · 26/12/2008 22:46

Gretal, Cocoa, Theo, Paddy

AaliyahsFirstXmas · 26/12/2008 22:45

I wanted Ffion for DD but DP didn't like it cos it was Welsh and he isn't so we had Aaliyah instead

Flibbertyjibbet · 26/12/2008 22:44

DS2 I wanted Otis. DP said no as its the name of a brand of lifts. I had never seen that in a lift before. Since he told me, every bloody lift I go in (and you go in a lot when you have a pram ) has a big plate on saying 'OTIS'.

We couldn't agree on a boys name for ages, when he was born a midwife said 'whats his name' I said 'well the only name we agreed on was Natalie'

(Don't worry we agreed on something else before I left the hospital!!)

thatsnotmymonster · 26/12/2008 22:44

Oh I forgot my absolute favourite girl's name is Hero from Much Ado About Nothing.

Love it. Wish DH had let me call one of our dd's Hero (sigh)

PaddingtonBore · 26/12/2008 22:40

I had so many normal names that DH vetoed, Iris and Cordelia being favourites. We did very nearly go for Regan though, but the evil sister connotations put us off. I'm glad we didn't chose it now!

thatsnotmymonster · 26/12/2008 22:40

Savannah (not that unusual I know) Still really like it.

VirginBoffinMum · 26/12/2008 22:38

Marius or Rex

Penthesileia · 26/12/2008 22:37

Leonora (2 of my favourite opera heroines have this name).

TequilaMockinBird · 26/12/2008 22:36

It always reminded me of Fraggle Rock as one of the main fraggles was called Red
