my given name is tessa. i have always loved it and love the full name however
some friends/family do call me tess.
i like that too.

a grammar school friend was theresa, but went by tessa.

an elderly neighbor from italy was nammed contessa, but used tess.

quintessa could be another (unusual) option

unknownrebelbang · 26/12/2008 20:55

I know of an Anastasia who uses Tess.

LiffeyanFiaRua · 26/12/2008 20:44

Teresa or Theresa. \me no like.

NorthernLurkerwithastarontop · 26/12/2008 20:07

I would think Theresa - but it can definately stand as a name in its own right imo

TESS
Gender: Feminine

Usage: English

Pronounced: TES [key]

Diminutive of THERESA. This is the name of the main character in Thomas Hardy's novel 'Tess of the D'Ubervilles' (1891).

(from Behind the Name)

I think Tess is simply Tess. My niece is just Tess, it is a lovely name.

Theresa · 26/12/2008 19:36

I've always assumed it was short for Theresa/teresa

KatyMac · 26/12/2008 19:22

Elizabeth can be Tess (more commonly was Bess)

Ponders · 26/12/2008 19:17

Teresa (or Theresa) generally
