its also and archers charachter. i dont think its that bad actually

Botbot · 18/12/2008 09:11

I think Fallon in the Archers is meant to be named after Fallon in Dynasty - she was born in 1985 (and her mother is a country and western singer.)

LynetteScavo · 18/12/2008 09:10

Last box.....I'd much rather have a Mungo than a Fallon!

I'm loving Huckleberry!

This morning when we got to school DS2 said "Hello Rhodes" to a little boy.

I immediately presumed he was conceived on holiday.

Mung · 18/12/2008 09:05

I know a Fallon...think its ridiculous name. Have friends that gave their snake that name...more appropriate.

mickeymistletoe · 18/12/2008 08:37

laughing at memory of Fallon being abducted by aliens. didnt she also go missing for years on end and end up in the Colbys? I used to watch dynasty with my mum when i was a kid. i think Fallon was played by emma samms.

Yes liffey I guess it takes one to know one!

LiffeyCanSpellGeansaiNollaig · 17/12/2008 16:45

iklboo that is so funny, you need to go and stand in the freezer aisle in Waitrose and say Isambard, do you want to try Taramasalata ??" I spluttered out my tea laughing at that one. I'm sure we'll see one in The Times births announcements before too long, now you've floated the idea, put it out there, well done!

lastboxoftampons, well spotted columbo! She must be American herself!

PuppyMonkeyNuts · 17/12/2008 16:39

Dynasty - now that's a good name.

lastboxoftampons · 17/12/2008 16:36

but poppycake and Liffey the OP IS American (I'm assuming based on "mom" in subject title) and she thinks it's weird! So, don't blame us for all the strange names! I'd much rather have a Fallon than a Mungo!

Piffle · 17/12/2008 14:52

today we met a Huckleberry!!!!
Funny as my ds2 is called Finn...
We were going round introducing and it went
Toby, Katy, Charlie, huckleberry, Finn and pearl!

scorpio1 · 17/12/2008 13:51

I love Fallon! The name...don't really know what Dynasty is (apart from a soap once? never seen it)

sorkycake · 17/12/2008 13:50

It's a fabulously OTT name isn't it? Reminds me of Dynasty too.
She could only work in the media with a name like that.

Are you sure she wasn't shouting Fallen by mistake?

Goodness, it is a bit close to Felon isn't it, that's a bit unfortunate.

Iklboo · 17/12/2008 13:44

Please don't come on mumsnet and say you've heard someone shouting either
"Archimedes!" or "Isambard!" cos it's what DH and I shout after DS (he answers to them and thinks it's funny too)

bozza · 17/12/2008 13:42

Fallon was the daughter of Blake Carrington and Alexis. Didn't she get abducted by aliens?

NattyTurkeyAndEggnog · 17/12/2008 12:36

hate it

LiffeyCanSpellGeansaiNollaig · 17/12/2008 12:35

Yes that's true Poppycake, they show us how we should be doing it!

Poppycake · 17/12/2008 10:03

but Liffey it's a common enough surname, and you know how Americans love making surnames into forenames, and then it gets imported (see Taylor etc)

LiffeyCanSpellGeansaiNollaig · 17/12/2008 09:45

Never heard it on the streets of Dublin I must say. Definitely one for the 3rd generationers in America!

beanieb · 16/12/2008 22:24

"The girl's name Fallon \f(al)-lon\ is pronounced FAL-en. It is of Irish and Gaelic origin, and its meaning is "superiority; descended from a ruler". From the Gaelic word "follamhnus". May also be a transformation of the English name Fuller, an occupational surname for a textile worker.

Fallon has 4 variant forms: Faline, Fallan, Fallen and Fallyn.

Baby names that sound like Fallon are Fayline, Faeleen, Valyn, Valen and Vallonia"
