another name to go with Mae

I'd like to call my baby to be 'Mae' but I am having real difficulty in finding another name to go with it - either before or after. Anyone have any suggestions? (surname begins with H if it helps at all)

I love the name. Quite a few little girls seem to have it as a middle name, but I think it sounds really lovely as a first name.

I would think you needed a 'softish' consonant to start the second name for it to roll off the tongue nicely. Like Mae Louise, Mae Louella, Mae Claire etc

Moondancer · 16/12/2008 21:16

Yeah - very common at the moment. Loads of 'something' - Maes in our area! Dont do it!

OhLITTLEFISHofBethlehem · 16/12/2008 21:03

As is shown by this thread, it's a very popular name at the moment. A little too popular??????

piscesmoon · 16/12/2008 20:52

May is much nicer.

Fillyjonk · 16/12/2008 20:47

londontipton · 16/12/2008 20:45

BlueBumedFly · 16/12/2008 20:37

We have a Clementine Mae and our surname starts with 'H' too....

I've got a Verity May.

My mum is Ethel May... You Mae not want to consider that seriously!

Thanks for the suggestions - some of them are things we really hadn't thought of . . . now just gotta get DH to stop laughing at the silly ones like 'pole' and concentrate on the important matter of our daughter to be!

I just read the Maybelle post and would like to second tht as a relly nice option!

dinkymum · 16/12/2008 15:23

Mae Dawn?

pamelat · 16/12/2008 14:48

Florence
Martha

Its difficult because they do sound like questions "May Florence ... ?" or an answer Yes, Florence may ....

I think Mae is better as the middle name, I would rather be an answer than a question!

PheasantPluckingACarollingLute · 16/12/2008 14:44

I know a Maybelle. And a Frances Mae.

FIMBOingaroundtheChristmasTree · 16/12/2008 14:43

My little SIL is called LillieMae (as a whole name). There is also an Ellie-May in her class.

RachieB · 16/12/2008 14:39

Ella May is nicest IMO

KateF · 16/12/2008 14:39

In dd3s reception class there are Ella-Mae, Georgia-May and Evie-May!

Mae Belle just makes me start singing "maybe she's born with it, maybe its Maybelline" in my head when I read it, sorry.
