Please help with this one!

It was easy with DS1, we both agreed on the name Noah from about 12 weeks pg and both loved the name (although chose not to tell the family until he was born)

This time its so much harder, these are what we have come up with - but none really click iykwim.

Girls
LOLA
MAGGIE
EVIE - though getting too popular
ISABELLE/ISABELLA
MADELEINE

Boys
ISAAC
SAMUEL
VINCE
SETH - but this sounds odd with our surname

Please tell me your HONEST opinions and feel free to add more to the list! I will keep you posted with our opinions

oohhh please use Sylvie as DH wouldn't let me have is

apparently he knew a mean Sylvia when at school!!!

dizzyjingles · 14/12/2008 22:50

Klaw I shall keep your DD1's name a secret too even though its a lovely suggestion!

Muiranne was one that we seriously considered for DD3 but decided against it as DD1 and DD2 don't have Scottish or irish names

what about

Evelyn
Olivia
Honor

Cheekster · 14/12/2008 22:49

Right this is our new shortlist

girls
MAGGIE
THEA
FREYA
LILA/LOLA
SYLVIE

boys
SAMUEL
REUBEN
JOSEPH
CALEB

any help in wittling it down?

SantaKLAWs · 14/12/2008 22:48

Am somewhat relieved that dd's name is never suggested, nor is hypothetical dd's name. Means there won't be 3 of them in the smae class

Partner and I both have one syllable surnames. DD has a three syllable first name. If I have another girl I have another three syllable in mind. If I were to have a boy I've no idea. But I've got to be pregnant first.....

Nancy66 · 14/12/2008 22:42

maggie is a bit of a thunderbolt moment - it's a great name.

The good news is I thought of supercool Maggie Gyllenhaal a long time before I thought of Mrs T

PeachyBidsYouNadoligLlawen · 14/12/2008 22:42

can't say it

PeachyBidsYouNadoligLlawen · 14/12/2008 22:42

ds2 was desperate for the baby to be Thea, but ds3 can't see it so we adapted it to Taya. But wouldn't have otherwise iyswim.

And then it was a 4th boy anyway LOL

dizzyjingles · 14/12/2008 22:42

lockets I think you and I have very similar taste in names

we liked

Corin and Caleb, Cassius or Cassian, Gabriel or Gideon, Reuben and Rudy and Roan for boys names when pregnant with the girls

I also have a secret love of

Hugo
Herbert nn Herb or Herbie
Gilbert nn Gil or Bertie

Cheekster · 14/12/2008 22:42

I agree lockets - Thea is lovely. How do you pronounce it though?

Is it as it is written or pronounced Tia?

Celeste and Francesca are lovely, they go very well with our surname.

I agree with the boy naming thing, much harder than choosing a girls name. Vince and Seth are my DH choice, not particularly my favourites TBH.

Samuel is my favourite at the mo for boys, although loving the new suggestions of Joseph, Joel and Finn - although DH is

must be OK. doh!

other names we liked- Gabriel, Talia, Thea (ds4 would have been Thea-Rose), Aisha, Katarina, Bethany (wasnt so common then though), Elliot, Laurie / Laurence, Benedict

Nancy66 · 14/12/2008 22:27

Really like all your girls choices - but would share your concerns about Evie being overly popular. Think Maggie is lovely.

Don't particularly like any of your boys names - but i find the boy's name thing so hard. Vince i especially don't like - i find it a bit downmarket.

my suggestions:

girl:

Tabitha
Violet
Sylvie
Elspeth
Annie
Cressida

Boy:
Joseph
Joel
Finn
Felix
Gabriel
Raphael
Rafferty
Patrick
Johnny
