I'm only 9wks pg so no idea what we're having. Any opinions on Morgan?

We've picked a boys name but absolutely no idea for girls.

Any other girls suggestions? Ds is Lewis.

I've been watching Merlin on TV and I like Morgana.

I knew a girl called Morgan - I quite like it. Also Morgane.

Or, I knew someone who was Scottish and called their daughter Morven which is very pretty.

Doodle2U · 16/12/2008 08:52

Morgan the girl in my DS's class and Morgan the boy in the year above. Nobody gets confused and nobody gets teased - kids just accept that it is their names.

I like it.

PlonkerTeatowelOnTheirHeads · 15/12/2008 23:24

I know 4 Morgans - all girls.

Its ok I guess ...

Gorionine · 15/12/2008 23:16

I always thought It was Morgane for a girl?

RachieB · 15/12/2008 23:10

why would you say it's chavvy?

even for a welsh person / child ?!

MadamDeathstarOverBethlehem · 15/12/2008 22:10

Morgan is quite a popular girl's name in California. I know two Morgans who are both aged around 13. They are both extremely intelligent.

Lulubee · 15/12/2008 22:07

What about Imogen? Similar but slightly more feminine?

BabyBaby123 · 15/12/2008 20:37

chavvy imho

Phoenix · 15/12/2008 19:48

Thanks for all replies.

As i thought majority think it a boys name. Ah well plenty of time to decide if i like it enough or come up with something else or just have a boy

I know a boy named Morgan, so I tend to think of it as a boys name.

mickeymistletoe · 15/12/2008 15:06

I know a girl named Morgan and a boy. i like it for both.

kgirl · 15/12/2008 14:57

I love it but my 10 week old son is called Morgan so I should really shouldn't I!!!!!!! Also I think it's just as nice for a girl. My middle name is welsh because my father was but I don't live in wales and I don't think it really matters tbh.

RachieB · 15/12/2008 14:08

I am welsh and have a nephew Morgan
also know of a little girl Morgan but prefer it as a boys name TBH

feel it's a bit "hard" for a girl

Marne · 15/12/2008 12:58

I like it, great for a boy or girl.

sorkycake · 15/12/2008 12:52

Boys name only for me.

Makes me think of a lapdancer, when used for a girl, unless you're Welsh or a druid.

Claireykitten · 15/12/2008 12:48

I love it. Would like to use it for my current girl bump but DH doesnt like it so Im not allowed!

dearprudence · 15/12/2008 12:39

Personally I'd avoid any 'unisex' type names. It's just one more little thing that they can get teased about once they're at school.

Don't like Morgan for a girl anyway, sorry.

cece · 15/12/2008 12:36

Not for me I am afraid unless you are Welsh.

Fennel · 15/12/2008 12:33

Porn star? It has connotations of comfy Welsh Health Visitor type to me - tweedily dressed on a windy pier.

Or of evil sorceresses in ancient tales.

Nancy66 · 14/12/2008 22:17

don't particularly like it for either sex but especially not for a girl - sounds a bit porn star to me.

NorbertDentressAngel · 14/12/2008 21:19

There are quite a few Morgans around here (but that may be as theres a local connection to the name?) -boys and girls.

Personally its not one I would choose.

DoubleBluff · 14/12/2008 21:18

boys name imo

deckthegirlandboywithholly · 14/12/2008 21:14

There are always its alternatives, see here

LynetteScavo · 14/12/2008 21:14

I like it.

I once had a boyfirend who isisted when we had a DD together she would be called Morgan.
