Edmund?

DH and I both like the name Edmund, however

My best friend laughed and actually geniunely thought I was joking when I said so (apparently it is the Blackadder link that made her think I was taking the pee) - this is from a friend who said when she was naming her DD it really annoyed her when people had very negative reactions to anything she suggested, so she genuinely did think I was joking!

My mum has openly said she doesn't like it, which I think must mean she hates it as I would usually expect her to keep her mouth shut or at least be half diplomatic.

DH's work mates all laughed and said that he would get bullied in the playground, but didn't specify why.

So are we missing something?? I think it's a perfectly normal, lovely name, and a bit more unusual than Edward? Is it considered super-posh or something? Or is it the Blackadder link (I love Blackadder)??

And I also mentioned to my Dad that we may shorten it to Ted and he said "Meh, Ted is short for Edward, not Edmund" - but I don't see why not?

I like it. I didn't think of Blackadder, I thought of "Mansfield Park" and Narnia.

I like it and considered if for DS3. DH was a bit about the Blackadder thing but it was on 25 years ago so I'm sure that people will not remember that for ever.

I also liked Edwin

My brother is Edmund and he likes it. Never a trace of bullying (and in fact his name is even sillier than that but I can't say why).
