Addison?

I'm expecting a baby girl due in jan and one of the names we love is Addison, but dp thinks it might be too unusual. What do you think?

I don't like it. I was expecting you to be suggesting it as a boys' name, which I also don't like, but I like it even less as a girls' name.

I know a few in Canada but it's not my cup of tea. I would like it much more if it was a boy's name!
Although, I guess it's not unlike Alison or Madison.

It reminds me of Addison's disease too but if you really like it, I think it sounds better on a boy as it isn't v feminine.

I dont dislike it but it did immediately bring charachter in "greys anatomy" to mind.

Its ok, I wouldnt use it but if you like it go for it!
I know a Maddison, which I think is better (and lovely) shortened to Maddie or Madds

yes but William and Edward are common names with lots of other associations. Only ever heard of Addison in association with the disease or very occassionally a surname.

well yueah, but then there are things like William's sydrome and Edward's too, and they're both lovely, much used names!
so wouldn't necessarily let that put me off

Really don't like it. A hard, cold, 'surname-ey' name, and sounds very boy-ish.

It sounds like a boys name to me.

I live near Addison Road, which isn't a very nice road, which would put me off.

i've only heard it as a boys' name before, so it does sound boyish to me. doesn't mean you shouldn't use it though!

persoanlly not to my choice. but that doesn't matter does it?

i love unusual names, so if you love it then go for it

In the UK its a surname really.
