It's a lovely name - both Jacob and Jake are great. It is really popular though, I know more Jake / Jacob's than any other boys name I think (south london) although don't know if that bothers you or not and may not be the case where you are anyway.

GrapeJelly · 06/12/2008 19:31

Love Jacob and Jake. Think they're both names that suit all ages.

thumbElf · 03/12/2008 22:59

nice name but isn't it somewhat overused at the minute? We had 2 of them in our class of 9 at babyswimming...

cheeseandsproutssarnie · 03/12/2008 22:57

i love jacob.

stillstanding · 03/12/2008 22:52

Bit biblical for me but I think a lovely name. Also think you must prepare yourself for Jake tho as it is inevitable

Bumperlicious · 03/12/2008 22:43

Love it, and Jake, was on my list if I had a boy, though DH not keen.

DoubleBluff · 03/12/2008 22:42

lizziebeth · 03/12/2008 22:41

sorkycake · 03/12/2008 22:39

there are a couple of Jacobs near me, all nice kids, all Jewish.

I personally don't like the name, think it's a bit dull. But each to their own, doesn't mean the child will be.

ben5 · 03/12/2008 22:36

jacob biscuits spring to mind sorry. dh likes jake but i thought of jake the peg with one leg. on a positive note it's not very popular and easy to spell!!

bessmum · 03/12/2008 22:33

RachieB · 03/12/2008 21:05

Great name. Solid, masculine but not too harsh sounding, well-known but not overused. And translates pretty well into quite a few languages.

Niecie · 03/12/2008 17:40

I have a Jacob too so obviously I love it.

We wouldn't have chosen it if we didn't like Jake too (although he is Jakie most of the time).

Imo Jacobs are a little bit cheeky but popular and high achievers.

No pressure on the poor boy then
