...brothers Thomas and George, also have a strong boys name as a surname that begins with O, so we have to be careful with initials.

I am looking for something different to Max and Jack, but as nice as them, maybe a little bit wacky but not too much, and deffo not poncey (I am a Southerner in the North West, I have to be careful with my accent) We have been through countless name books/websites and not hit on the one yet, so it's over to you lot!

To give an idea, my favourites are Seth, Seb(astian), Albert (Albie), DH likes Charlie and Harrison, neither of us like each others (Well to be fair, I love Harrison, but I don't like 'Arrison, which is what it becomes up here!)

And I hadn't thought about the George and Harrison thing...

I do like Charlie, but because of my accent up here, it just sounds too poncey.

And Harrison goes the other way, because of everyone else's accent up here, it turns into 'Arrison, which just makes my teeth itch.

Charlie is the best name! Before you call it common, my gorgeous DS is called Charlie but he has an unusual surname so he can get away with it...

For what it's worth, Harrison is a beautiful, tradish name that goes very well with Thomas and George, IMO.

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 04/12/2008 08:33

Yep, Seth stayed with me!

On my list is:

Seth
Seb(astian)
Albert (Albie)
Edward (Ned)
Rudy
Aled
Noah
Hugo/Hubert (Hughie)
Arthur (Art)
Walter (Walt)
Euan
Rory
Donald (Donny)
Luca
Gus
Alex
Guy
Nathan

DH's list:

Charlie
Harrison

A slight possilbility for both of us list:

Samuel
Dylan
Alfie

We are both touch and go on these though, kind of feels like settling, instead of actively choosing.

NatalieJane - I remember when you got the idea of Seth, and you weren't even pg then! Hope all is well

bodiddly · 04/12/2008 08:17

have you added any from this list to your favourites or still prefer your original choice ... at least we can see then which you like!

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 04/12/2008 06:22

Oh I've seen plenty I like, t'is DH that is the problem!

Perhaps I need to broaden my expectations? DH obviously doesn't like the same sort of names as me, how about things that aren't quite so traditonal, but still not 5 in a class, nor made up gimicky names? See if you can persuede me and him!

Actually, just realised that your other choice is also a B (Albert / Bertie)!

Nighbynight · 03/12/2008 21:39

Sebastian is commonly shortened to Bastian in Germany, which you presumably wouldnt want.

How about Rowan? Irish name. Also a type of tree with red berries. It's pronouncable, but unusual.

I'm pregnant, and would use it myself, if it wasn't already a family member!

findtheriver · 03/12/2008 20:52

I don't think nataliejane really wants us to find her a name!
She wants to watch us run through every conceivable name in the book!

SpaceTrain · 03/12/2008 19:15

I'm not giving up til we find you a name. DH and I have never agreed on boy's names Fortunately we have a DD - I am dreading this pg being a boy purely because it would be nameless.

Thaddeus (Tad)
Paul
Evan
Quinn

mickeylou · 03/12/2008 17:06

Not sure you should have Harrison when you already have a George. Speaking as one with a North West accent, I agree that the H's do tend to get lost in translation up here.

How about Thomas, George and Joe?

RunningGirl · 03/12/2008 16:49

Levi
Isaac
Joel
Samuel
All lovely strong biblical names so not poncey either.

jempurd · 03/12/2008 16:15
