Hi everyone,

Only 12 wks to go until DC3 is due and, although we haven't agreed on a name yet, Cecily is my current favourite.

Am thinking about middle names. Could I have some opinions on the following and any other suggestions too? Baby's surname begins with B and is 3 syllables.

Cecily Beatrix
Cecily Flora
Cecily Alice (Alice is my sister's name)
Cecily Iris
Cecily Kate
Cecily Eve

Thanks a lot!

Have just done a little poll and Cecily Rose has come out on top, followed by Cecily Jane and Cecily Alice.
People obviously think 1 syllable works best rather than anything more complicated. I think I just like so many girls names that I am trying to use them especially as this will probably be our last child!

Findtheriver's suggestion of Cecily Ruth is very pretty. My personal favourite is stll Cecily Joy.

maretta · 29/11/2008 13:07

I like Cecily Pearl

mavornia · 29/11/2008 12:57

def rose or jane - perfect fit with cecily

Spidermama · 29/11/2008 12:09

Cecily Moon. Has to be.

MaryBS · 29/11/2008 12:00

My immediate thought was Alice...

findtheriver · 29/11/2008 11:52

Rose, May and Grace seem to be the default middle names around here - every other girl has them! Or tacked onto the first name eg Tilly-May, Ella-Rose.

Jane is far more classy and unusual, and sounds great. Or Ruth - that would go well. I was thinking one syllable, though I have to say the suggestion of Cecily Frances is beautiful.

SoupDragon · 29/11/2008 11:26

My immediate thought was Jane.

loobylu3 · 29/11/2008 11:13

I do like 'old lady chic' like Pearl and Maude actually but I don't think DH is keen!

I was going to suggest Alice on reading the thread title, then found it was one of your options! so def like that.

like Iris and Eve too.
also Cecily Anna
or Cecily Frances?

EachPeachPearMum · 28/11/2008 19:52

Ooh- Cecily was our front-runner this time (32weeks pg) but we're having a boy!

We had chosen Cecily Margot, our 2nd choice was Beatrix.

TheNewsMongrel · 28/11/2008 19:48

Cecily Joy or Cecily Faith.

Cecily Anne sounds good too.

atowncalledalice · 28/11/2008 19:37

Cecily is an absolutely beautiful name - if I had a daughter, that's most likely what I'd name her. I agree that you need a one syllable middle name. How about:

Jane
Rose
Claire
Pearl

Plonker · 28/11/2008 19:31

Definitely Cecily Alice - sounds beautiful and how lovely to name your dd after your sister

janeite · 28/11/2008 19:26

Really Cynthia? Have never met a May!

kiltycoldbum · 28/11/2008 19:20

Ann was the first name that came to my mind

ShowOfHands · 28/11/2008 19:19

Cecily Kate is nice. Also like Ann or Joy.

Cynthia32 · 28/11/2008 19:17

Janeite I'm surprised you think Rose is popular compared to May!

LaDiDaDi · 28/11/2008 19:14

I like Cecily Kate best, Kate is nice and simple after Cecily.

I don't like Cecily Alice, Cecily Eve or Cecily Iris; too many i and e sounds.

I think Cecily Beatrix is fine if you have a short surname other wise too much.

Cecily Flora is ok, a bit too girly for me as a combination.

janeite · 28/11/2008 19:11

Lovely name.

I think it sits best with a single syllable middle name:

May
Joy
Belle

Rose sounds nice but somehow over popular, I think.

Of your list, my favourite to accompany Cecily is Kate. Some of your other choices sound a bit "too much" although they are all lovely names.

catweazle · 28/11/2008 19:08

My first thought was Rose too

Or else 2 syllables like Frances

WowOoo · 28/11/2008 19:06

me too. Immediately thought Cecily Rose. Lovely!

LynetteScavo · 28/11/2008 19:05

I like Cecily Alice best, but all your names are lovely.

The first name that came to mind was Rose.

Cynthia32 · 28/11/2008 19:00

Cecily Rose? Soooo gorgeous.
Cecily Fay, I like this one too.

Cecily Beatrix - too many syllables
Cecily Flora - just doesn't sound right
Cecily Alice - quite nice
Cecily Iris - I don't like Iris, ruins Cecily.
Cecily Kate - alright, quite pretty
Cecily Eve - like this one.
