Hello pussinwellies, I don't think so! I was never in the guides. There is a well known Guide camp close to where I lived though .

Astrophe · 21/11/2008 21:40

Don't say anything about it - Just comment on his lovely blue eyes or something.

PussinWellies · 21/11/2008 21:38

JollyBear... do I know you? Did you learn that song at (whisper) Guide Camp?? And were ducks involved?

LynetteScavo · 21/11/2008 21:35

They might call his brother Kendel.

LynetteScavo · 21/11/2008 21:34

I went to school with Pendella. Someone once told me she was conceived on Pendle Hill, but I'm not so sure about that.

bozza · 21/11/2008 21:28

I just hope their surname isn't Hill.

JollyBear · 21/11/2008 21:25

I'm from near Pendle Hill and we used to sing a folk song about it at school.

Old Pendle, old Pendle thou standest alone
Twist Burnley, Clitheroe, Whalley and Colne
Where Hodder and Ribble's fair waters do meet
And Barley and Downham, content at thy feet.

There are lots of other verses! Sadly I can't remember them all

Or even Dangermouse.

MeAndMyMonkey · 19/11/2008 21:53

Ace Mulholland was pretty... ace, but I always preferred louche brother Jack. Pendle, on the other hand, was horrid... emotionally cold and in love with his ex!
Read the book - it's fab!
And yeah, change your friends!

moondog · 19/11/2008 21:53

It sounds like something a Victorian shoe maker would use.

ScummyMummy · 19/11/2008 21:51

Penfold would be better...

ScummyMummy · 19/11/2008 21:50

Gosh! Um, will you definitely have to offer a verbal response?

pippylongstockings · 19/11/2008 21:47

No? he has a brother called Ace in the book - some other friends of ours have a son called Ace!!

Time to make some new friends......

Must read the book tho'

Oh dear.
Makes me think of the Pendle witches too.

My mum used to live near Pendle Hill were the witches were suppossed to meet.

biskybat · 19/11/2008 21:43

If only men like that existed in RL

biskybat · 19/11/2008 21:41

Ace? Not sure that was his real name...they were nicknamed after pack of cards

fishie · 19/11/2008 21:39

pendle mulholland. which was the one she ended up with?

biskybat · 19/11/2008 21:38

I remember as a teenager, reading a Jilly Cooper romance which had one of the dashing heroes as being a chap by the name of Pendle...perhaps your friend has the same shocking taste in literature

pippylongstockings · 19/11/2008 21:37

He's a boy - if that helps at all or makes it worse ??

OP posts:
MeAndMyMonkey · 19/11/2008 21:36

They must be massive Jilly Cooper fans... oh gosh, I think it's from Prudence?

fourlittlefeet · 19/11/2008 21:35

maybe they are related to the pendle witches

cyanarasamba · 19/11/2008 21:35

Aren't there witches on Pendle Hill??

Heated · 19/11/2008 21:35

You don't. You comment on everything else but!

Or if forced into a corner, smile brightly and say sagely, "Well, you've got to choose a name you love."

But it is god awful

chunkychips · 19/11/2008 21:34

it's a town in cumbria. Strange choice.
