Lily - alternative longer versions

DH and I both like the name Lily for a DD but as we have a one syllable surname feel we ought to go for the longer version. DH likes Lilian, I don't. Does anyone know any other names that Lily could be short for?

Thanks everyone, think we've agreed on Liliana...for now. Really appreciate your opinions.

Evangeline?

Marne · 16/11/2008 12:30

I like Lillianna, love the name Lily but couldn't call my child Lilly as its my dogd name .

mumof3bs1more · 16/11/2008 12:28

Hi what about Lillianne, lillith or using a double barrelled names but if you do i would choose somethin abit more origianl than may!
Lily-grace
Lily-anna
Lily-anne
that kind of thing but honestly if you both like lily on it on i'd go for it Lily Bott sound absolutely fine to me.Good luck deciding!

BotBot - did you work for a publishing company by any chance?

Botbot · 15/11/2008 23:30

I used to work for a woman called Ljiljana.

Gaspode · 15/11/2008 16:18

Strike that. Violet Elizabeth Bott was the annoying lispy little girl in Just William. Most people under 40 won't have heard of her anyway.

Lily Bott sounds a bit like Liliput to me.

I love Lilith.

Lilian?

Liliana?

Gaspode · 15/11/2008 16:14

Elizabeth Bott is a fictional character isn't she?

belgo · 15/11/2008 16:11

I don't think Lily M(m)ay Bott sounds that great.

belgo · 15/11/2008 16:09

My grandmother was also Elizabeth, nickname Lily. I love those names.

BabyTalk13 · 15/11/2008 16:08

Lillianna.... I love this name

Lillianna

katie3677 · 15/11/2008 09:53

Thanks for all the suggestions. My problem is that our surname is Bott, and I am wondering if it is cruel to call a child Lily Bott. What do you think?
