OK, I'm bored - my children are watching Top Gear for the 91st time and dp's away and I have 50 Pudsey Bear biscuits to decorate and I don't want to.

My father was born in 1918. His name was one that I have only heard 3 times in my life apart from Pa. One man, one woman, one still alive, one Victorian.

Any guesses?

LynetteScavo · 13/11/2008 21:25

Condoleeza - help me out here!

seeker · 13/11/2008 21:24

It's difficult to decide whether it's more male or female. If really pushed, I would say female - but only because it has a common characteristic with a group of girl's names....

I can't think of many Victorains and none of them have very unisex names - charles, florence, benjamin, isambard, albert, william - I think not.

Yes it's the woman that's still alive. No one's near yet. Bizarrely, not even the first initial letter.

I bet, when you do reveal, there's a flurry of posts of people who were at school with an 'x'. Always the way.

Mind you, i had a (white english), greatish granmother called Argentine. I've yet to hear of another of those.

maretta · 13/11/2008 20:36

Is it the woman who's still alive. Are they still active in public life.

LynetteScavo · 13/11/2008 20:35

Ainsley.

seeker · 13/11/2008 20:35

Loving the idea of a girl called Boris! Or Horatio - very Blackadder!

My dad (born in Ireland 1916) was called Dawson. I only ever heard it again on Dawson's Creek in the 90s. Is it Dawson...?
