Need name that works in both languages. Don't mind long or short names. Suggestions please ...!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Yup - that's the one! I am surprised how difficult a lot of people find it though, so I might actually recommend a shorter name.

I think you are right to avoid Noa - too close to Noah which is v. popular in this country for boys right now.

Ines is on my list for next DC if it's a girl. Personally I prefer Alma to Alba - but that is probably because I always think of La Casa de Bernarda Alba so it makes me feel claustraphobic.

Eliana is gorgeous. I think it may have Hebrew origins (or so I was told). Isabel and Eva are really lovely and do work in both languages very well but they are enormously popular.

Natalia is very pretty too (not on my list as it is a relative's name).

So really I haven't helped at all as I love all the names you have on your list.

Some lovely names here. We are living in the UK at the moment and I think some of them wouldn't work with an English accent.

Am loving:

Clara
Eva
Ines
Alba
Noa - too much like boys name Noah?

Looks like I'm going for the shorter names! Also love:

Eliana -is this italian?
Natalia
Isabel

Some good nns with the longer names.

Don't want anything too popular, or frumpy, good point TheNewsMonger.

LuLuBai - I think your DD's name begins with a P!

Will run the whole thread by DH later.

My favourites are Alba, Alma, Ines, Natalia, Clara, Lola. I also loved Lucia but worried people would pronounce it 'Luchia' or 'Lusha'.

My DD is a Clara and everyone comments on it in the UK and in Spain.

TheNewsMonger · 13/11/2008 12:00

Sílvia, Lídia, Anabel, Julia, Clara, Leonora....... Those would be ones I'd use just because I really like which happen to be workable in Spain too.

Maribel is lovely btw. Gorgeous.

JMO, but I think the names in the top ten in spain at the moment are a bit frumpier. Here in GB, super feminine names are 'in' and they are choosing things like Nuria and Noa. JMO.

Rosa or Rosalita

Boyswillbeboys · 13/11/2008 11:12

When I was in Spain, I had an English friend called Linda. All the Spanish girls thought that was a fab name as it means beautiful! My name is Rebecca - not so beautiful as it means cardigan in Spanish

I love all the suggestions above, also Luisa.
