DH and I are having a nightmare - we are rubbish at deciding on a name as we are both very fussy. Please make suggestions for boys names - I don't want anything common (i.e he will be one of 3 in his class)

I will apologise in advance for dismissing most of them, we've already had a gazillion suggestions but I am hoping one of you can hit the jackpot! There is a photo of him in my profile if that helps.

Thanks

Hector, Jonah, Tobias (Toby), Herve, Bob (you never get any Bob's any more), Oscar, Sebastian. I have a DS called one of them (and it's not Bob!). Can you guess which one it is?

seeker · 12/11/2008 18:16

Read the thread properly and realized you can't have Ned - but isn't it strange that so many of us though of it!

How about Edward - Ed for short?

mummyloveslucy · 12/11/2008 18:15

Charlie or Oliver would suit him, or William. I do prefere traditional older names that have stood the test of time.
I'm not keen on wierd or made up names.

seeker · 12/11/2008 18:14

Edward - Ned for short. That's who he looks like to me!

KatieMorag · 12/11/2008 18:14

As you have a scottish surname, why dont you go for a Scottish but also English first name?

sorry not explaining it well. more " neutral"

so not Euan or Struan ( too Scottish)
not Richard or sebastian or Miles or felix( too English)
not Aiden or Connor ( too Irish)
not Owen ( too Welsh)

and one or three syllable not two

and not starting with S ( not stanley or Seth)

LuLuBai · 12/11/2008 18:13

Let us know when you make your mind up!!!

mumof2andabit · 12/11/2008 18:12

Oh dh came and spied and said he thinks he looks like an Andrew.

mummyloveslucy · 12/11/2008 18:12

Archie

xavier

Elliot

He's gorgeous BTW, you must be over the moon.

mumof2andabit · 12/11/2008 18:11

He is sooooo cute - and I love the nursery too! I have say James popped into my head but it isn't so unusual.....

Wilfred (Wilf)
Herbert (Herbie)
Albert (Albie)

ChocOrange05 · 12/11/2008 18:10

Oliver suits him, I think.

hullygully · 12/11/2008 18:09

Edgar

LuLuBai · 12/11/2008 18:08

Divine baby! very jealous and can't wait for mine to be born (ages to go...)

I love Ned too. Classic old English but not often used. Can christen him Edward and use Ned as an abbreviation if you prefer.

If you like Zac how about Isaac? Or Max? If you like Flynn how about Finn? If you like Cameron then how about Campbell (or is that also too Scottish?), Caleb is also a good alternative. I secretly quite like Conrad (DH doesn't) and think Casper is rather cool too.

Arthur, Noah, Sebastian, Benedict, Felix, Jasper, Elliot, Lawrence....

TheNewsMonger · 12/11/2008 18:07

Ok, to use your list as a starting point

I like Zac but DH doesn't.

Instead of Zachary, what about Barnaby, Gregory or Malachy? Barney/Greg/Mac

Flynn - prefer Finbar or Fintan or Finley.
Aden - OK but spell it Aidan.

If you like broadly celtic names, what about Lorcan or Rory or Fergus. You don't have to be Irish or Scottish imo.

And others I can't remember - we quite like the idea of bringing back an old fashioned boys name. Richard with Richie for short. Sort of Archie inspired but will date less. I also love Victor and think it's the next Oscar/Jaspar. Not saying that that's definitely a good thing. Just that it's coming back, I can feeeeel it.

I also like Donald which is another classic you could bring back!

Underused classics I love included Peter, Dominic and Marcus and Julius.

He looks a gorgeous little fellow. I think I'd call him Richard Julius (Richie) or Lorcan Marcus or Dominic Rory. Some 'demi-caledonian' suggestions there.

MrsSanta · 12/11/2008 18:06

How gorgeous is he, reminds me of my ds when he was born. Congratulations.

ds Roan Jorge (Jorge being middle name)

MmeLindt · 12/11/2008 18:06

I like Zac (Zachary). Z names are very cool. I knew a guy called Zenobius.

He does have a bit of a Henry/Harry look about him.

Aiden
Simon

EdwardCullenCanHaveMySoul · 12/11/2008 18:06
