Kade? Kane? Kaeden? Khar? Kai? Kiefer? What do we think?

My 20-month old son is called Kit. I love it, and most people seem to think it's a really cool name.

I read the name in a novel I happened to be reading in early pregnancy, and loved it, and fortunately DH liked it too.

And although his name starts with a 'K', he isn't naughty, just a typical toddler.

RachieB · 03/11/2008 14:49

oooh Keir is nice

LynetteScavo · 03/11/2008 14:12

RagingHormone - you haven't met my SIL!

If you wan't to know boys names with out opinions, buy a baby name book.

Nancy doesn't like boys names begining with K. Aparently you do.

Personlly the only boys names begining with K I like are Kermit and Kojo.

Oh, and I missed Konnor/Konner off the list.

prettybutterfly · 02/11/2008 23:13

As in Keir Hardie ... a good namesake to have.

Ok, there are a few I like!

Cheesesarnie · 02/11/2008 21:21

kai.

i know a keir too which is quite nice.

blithedance · 02/11/2008 21:20

Loving Kester (and the literary association)

Kyle a good solid Scottish name.

Keith, Kevin, Kenneth, rare these days so at least won't be doubled up at nursery. I went to college with a lovely Danish guy called Kenny, he was a perfect gent.

RagingHormone · 02/11/2008 21:16

I think these name threads just seem to descend into people being ruder than they would ever dream of being in RL so I can't be bothered anymore.

Nancy- you knew you'd offended me earlier, so why continue?

Sorry, but I think that Kaeden is awful. Just looks like you're trying to be different, and trying too hard.

Unless a name is normally spelled with a k, I think it looks awful and cheap if it's changed to one.

prettybutterfly · 02/11/2008 21:03

Kermit? Really?

I am a bit 'meh' about all of them.

LynetteScavo · 02/11/2008 20:32

Kojo is growning on me. But I think it would suit someone with an afro best.

Nancy66 · 02/11/2008 20:22

LOADS of south Africans are called Kai - don't like it though - Danniella Westbrook has a kid called that which sums it up nicely for me.

snarky · 02/11/2008 20:22

Kerry

BabyBaby123 · 02/11/2008 20:20

Kai is a real boys name - most definately - I know several

Cadmum · 02/11/2008 20:17

My vote is for Karl.

But (and this is a big one) DH says NO WAY, NO HOW for any K names.

One of his old mates just changed from Keith to Kate. Kyle was a lazy trouble maker. Karl is somehow queer. (Too Germanic or is it Combat Karl?)

Kenny, Kevin and Keith all eat paste...

Kim and Kai are surely not real names for a boy?

Sesi · 02/11/2008 20:17

There does seem to be a high percentage of naff K names. Although it?s only the ones traditionally spelt with a C , e.g. Ciaron, Cian or Caleb but are needlessly changed to a K for affect that are the main offenders.

Otherwise there are a few nice ones, Kit is ok and Keir is nice.

Nancy66 · 02/11/2008 20:10

Kojo? Kole? Korrigan?

Krazy...actually make that Kray-zee

LynetteScavo · 02/11/2008 20:02

Nancy - did you not notice Kermit? Definately may favourite by far!

Although Kenny is kind of cute, in a South Park way.

wilbur · 02/11/2008 20:01

I like Kingsley. Although I guess King as a short version is a bit naff.

Nancy66 · 02/11/2008 20:01

so that's official then - there are no nice boys names begining with K !

Friend has just called her baby Keo.

I like Kian.

Or go for the k sound and name your boy Sky or Skyler (on a shameless mission to make ds's name more popular )

I think Kaeden is like 'kay-den' without the risk of it bein shortened to Kay- a woman's name. Kaden looks like it would be said 'cad-en' iyswim. Kaeden just looks right.

OP posts:
BabyBaby123 · 02/11/2008 18:49

Kaeden's the same as Kaden though RagingHormone - you are just adding an extra letter that doesn't need to be there imo

prettybutterfly · 02/11/2008 18:36

Kay and Kim are also boys' names. Well, they used to be. They might raise a few eyebrows these days, though if you liked them you wouldn't let it bother you.
