What do we think of Liesha? Lacey? Libby? Lainey? Taree? Brooke Marie?

using the word chav and chavvy

mabanana · 02/11/2008 20:31

'still' plugging on about what SEA? I posted once about the names! Why pick on my post? Come to that, why are YOU still plugging on about it? Haven't you got anything more interesting to think about?

southeastalien · 02/11/2008 20:26

why are you still pluggin on about it mbanana - mn is getting so bitchy

isn't there anything you feel really passionate about arguing about?

BabyBaby123 · 02/11/2008 19:59

Lacey is the girl who plays Stacey in Eastenders

Liesha/Lainey/Taree - are they real names?

Brooke is pretty awful on it's own - put with Marie it's much, much worse.

How about Libby short for Liberty if you don't like Elizabeth? Might be more in keeping with your other name choices....

mabanana · 02/11/2008 19:54

Why on earth do you say you child will never be an MP? I'm quite shocked at that to be honest.

mabanana · 02/11/2008 19:51

nobody's accusing you of being chavvy, just saying that those names definitely fall into a category that many people will regard as common/chavvy. If that's not something you want, don't go with them. They sound like X-factor contestants. Libby is a sweet short form for Elizabeth.

I know a thea who spends hours a day having to repeat her name

'fraid i don't like any of your names, and no offence to any Americans out there but to my ears sound very American.

But whatever you go for it as long as remember not everyone will agree otherwise we would all have the same names!

BabyBaby123 · 02/11/2008 17:53

the only one I like from your list is Libby but I think it should be short for something. The rest are all really awful imo.

Thea is lovely as is Thalia / Talia ?

mamalovesmojitos · 02/11/2008 15:00

yes, i personally would name a child libby not worrying about calling her elizabeth.
lovely name. so is thea.

Heated · 02/11/2008 14:41

Thea is lovely. 2nd choice would be Libby.

I can't comment on the others...although I just seem to have done

kt08 · 02/11/2008 14:37

another nice irish name is caoimhe (pronounced kwee-vah) also i like aoife (but pronounced ee-fah not ee-fee)or one more aoibheen (pronounced a-veen).
i like laoise, libby and brooke but i dont really like the others. i would leave it at just libby not short for elizabeth if you dont like the name!

mamadiva · 02/11/2008 14:37

I love Leisha my little cousin has the weird spelling Laouise it's Gaelic or summit.

Really like Thea, thanks. It's also very close to her name. I'm really chuffed you've suggested that. DP likes it, too.

Like Aoife and Naimh.

Or siobhan, or niamh (I love Niamh)

MamaMimi · 02/11/2008 14:14

RH, you asked about other Irish names, what about Aoife (ee-fee)?

VictorianSqualor · 02/11/2008 14:06

How about Tara?

Also, it's not that the child is labelled, but the parents are, which then reflects on the child.

RagingHormone · 02/11/2008 14:03

I just cannot see the point in labelling people from a name. It's stupid.

Taree is a Japanese nature name. MIL's name is similar but I don't like her name, and so need to find an alternative as a middle name that will suit her.

Marie is my nana who died recently and so I want her name as middle name really.

Brooke is DPs choice and I think it sounds soft and girly.

Lacey we got from Lacey Turner and it's in the name book, as are the other names mentioned.
