Boy's names please, not too popular, not too wacky - leaning towards Celtic but all suggestions welcome

We are really struggling to think of a boy's name that is not too popular (trying to avoid names in the top 20-30). We'd ideally like something slightly unusual but not too wacky. We are leaning towards Celtic names as we are both Scottish but open to all suggestions (especially German as DP has German blood). The kind of name we like is:

Ewan/Euan
Finlay
Dylan
Connor

These are all very popular in Scotland at the moment. We also have to avoid names begining with 'W' due to surname. Any suggestions will be gratefully receieved

Lots of great names to discuss with DP - thanks . RachieB I love all 4 names you mention - Ellis is a strong contender on our girls list.

Ross
Duncan
Rory
Thorsten
Rudy
Jonas
Mattias (sp?)

My favourite hypothetical boy's name is Dietrich, although it wouldn't work here, even if I could have one. I met a lovely Ulf-Dietrich once, what a great name.

Oh, and DS2 was very nearly Dylan (although I think the name he has suits him better and it's not a Gaelic-derived one).

SixSpotBonfire · 17/10/2008 10:18

Liam is lovely. I also like Rory and DS1 would have been a Rory if I had had my way!

mamadiva · 17/10/2008 10:11

Liam is gaelic for William don't think its too popular

I hope not its my DS's name
