English/Italian boys names please!!

Hi there

Looking for English or Italian boys names for baby boy to go with Italian surname.
Finding it tricky as many of the good ones are 'taken' (close friends with kids have already used Matteo, Mattia, Alessandro/Alexander, Lorenzo) and others don't really carry over well. I.e. Italian boys names ending in 'a'/'e' sound like girls names in UK, any English name with 'th'/'h' in it would be mispronouced in Italy etc!

Leaning more towards Italian names as they are pronounced and written phonetically...any suggestions would be much appreciated!!

Sent the link for the thread to DH for him to take a look too but think he's stuck on Francesco - nothing wrong with that, I just wanted to get some more ideas!
Not even sure what we're having yet but girl's name is pretty much decided so thought we should sort out an alternative
Anyway, when the time comes will let you all know what we go for.

I really like Luca too, although it does make me think of dreamy Dr Kovac in ER

Can you not use a family name if you really like it?
In my dh family they are all called the same two names it seems

I have a Bruno which I believe is German but it translates well into Italian (my dh is sicillian) and English.
My dd1 is called Amelia which is also germanic.
I have an Italian surname.

Alberto (love nn Bertie or Albie)

Fabio was my other choice.
Francesco is lovely too.

Mario? You could shorten to Rio - I knew a guy in school who was Rio, I thought it was very cool at the time

Domenico's nice too but DH's uncle's name!
May be easier to look at the family tree and see which names aren't on it!

Thanks guys, like Luca a lot, unfortunately names-wise DH has a massive family so there are a quite a few names that are already in use! - Gianluca, Franco, Piero, Stefano, Marco, Paolo, Claudio, Giuliano - argh!
Adam's a good one too, thanks Ellbell! Will mention suggestions to DH tonight...

combinations with Gianni, like Gianluigi, Gianluca, etc.
Luca (which I think is the exception to the rule about not choosing a boy's name ending in 'a'!)
Piero (and combinations... Pierluigi)
Antonio (not sure this works too well with an English accent, though... An-tow-nee-ow )
Likewise I'd avoid Giovanni because it'll get pronounced as Jee-oh-vanni in this country, which is painful.

I don't particularly like Adamo, but Adam seems to be an English name that Italians don't have a problem with pronouncing.
