Violet , Greta, Clemmie or Romilly?

We have two girls already, and are struggling for a name for DC3 if a girl...

What do you think of these names? Any preferences? We're stuck.

Greta would be short for Marguerite.
Clemmie for Clementine, of course!
Violet as I love flower names.
Romilly - perhaps Lily for short.

Our possible middle names are Emmeline, Claudia and Ottilie.

Obviously Clementine Emmeline is one to avoid

DD1 one cries whenever we says the baby will have one of these names - she wants to call it Leaf Pie

Violet or Greta (but only if you promise me you will put Marguerite on the birth certificate so that she can choose between the options when she's older).

I prefer your middle name choices to your first names I'm afraid. I like Emmeline and love Claudia.
Have you thought about Christabel?

Decisions, decision.

Maybe it would be best to stick to Leaf Pie.

Swampy, I've been lurking a bit. Not MNing much the last few weeks. I will be back. (Is that a threat or a promise? )

I heart Romilly. Wanted DD to be Romilly but was not brave enough in the end

She is Lily instead, but luckily it fits her personality beautifully.

Altho when she starts school with a gazillion other Lilys it might be a bit of a bore!

violet or romilly for me but dont think lily works for a nock name for the latter, maybe Milly or Romy(sp?) would be better?

Surely Milly would be the obvious shortening for Romilly?

Making a plea against Ottilie as a middle name - I knew a really irritating, flaky one, plus it reminds me of the joke against a minor character in an India Knight novel 'Ottilie delighted to meet you'.

I have a Clementine and she is a Clemmie. I have never ever had anyone call or refer to her as Clammy, rather everyone I introduce her to says how lovely the name is.

We chose Mae for her middle name.

Greta is a bit gutteral. I used to like Gretel as a child but now it seems really harsh to say.

Marguerite however is beautiful. And you may find that other shortened names apart from Greta emerge.

Clementine is an amazing name. I'm trying to convert DH to that for our next child.

Violet - lovely too but DH pointed out that the word Violent is pretty close.

Romilly - nice too but not as nice as the others.

I think name choosing is such a lovely dilemma to be in. Enjoy it!

Pronounced Rom as in CD Rom!

One friend says Romilly sounds like an old-fashioned Gypsy fortune-teller's name though...

I'm leaning towards it now I think, especially as so many of you seem to like it too!

Greta is maybe a bit too randomly Germanic.

And there was an awful Violet in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

They are all pretty names, but of course, real posh people used them seven-15 years ago. What are the posh calling their kids nowadays I wonder?

I love Romilly. Do you pronounce it rom as in cd rom or rome as in 'rome'??
I also like violet and have considered it for a middle name for our still nameless 3 day old daughter but i don't think its genlte enough if you know what i mean.. maybe i aslo hear violent!!
I gave birth to coldplay 'violet hill' so we thought it'd be nice and also our other daughter has a flower name.But just don't like it enough.

I think Leaf Pie may stick, at least for the first few weeks!

I already have an H name (Hester - Hettie), and we're trying not to use the same initials twice for different members of the family. I do love Hebe though.

Emmeline I would like as a first name if we didn't know so many Emmas and Emilys and Imogens and Amys.
