Claudia or India?

Right it is me again, I know, I know, I know I liked Cecily but I have gone off it, don't know why. Claudia and India are both names I have loved for a while but never thought I would use them for one of my own children but I am getting desperate...

So, which one is the nicer?

DD1 is Grace, DD2 is Maya

Sorry - not too keen on either - Claudia slightly better but pretty Sloaney; India agree on the boho etc take, wee bit pretentious sorry.
Strange as my DD is Maya Grace so we agree on some things!

BabyBaby123 · 26/09/2008 09:40

prefer India

ThinWhiteDuchess · 25/09/2008 22:10

Guess that makes me a Bobo then groover. C'est la vie. I have a bloody gorgeous DD though who totally suits the name India.

groovergirl · 25/09/2008 14:53

India is woefully bourgeois bohemian unless the kid has a verifiable link with the subcontinent --- ancestry or place of birth. It reminds me of the many suburban Australian kiddies named Dakota and Montana. Don't go there, metaphorically or otherwise!

lunamoon2 · 24/09/2008 22:26

I like both, agree about India sounding like a dark haired/eyed girl though.

minkersmum · 24/09/2008 22:25

both lovely.

think claudia goes better with grace and maya tho but love india too as quite 'alternative'

think names only pretentious if totally ott, not like india which is just a bit different!

Woollymummy · 24/09/2008 22:03

I prefer Sylvia. go on, you know you do too.....

Jodyray · 24/09/2008 21:54

thanks jasper...i like it too obviously!

cspot · 22/09/2008 10:00

Claudia...of course but that's my name and I'm Italian....

Anna8888 · 22/09/2008 09:55

India is lovely.

Also Livia.

CountessDracula · 22/09/2008 09:54

ooh no not india
my father wanted to call me this and luckily my mother's sense prevailed

LuLuBai · 22/09/2008 09:53

I think they are both very pretty (and I think India suits a blonde girl perfectly well too) but I prefer Claudia with your other dd's names. How about Olivia as another option with a similar feel? (Or as that has 4 syllables perhaps you could keep it, along with Cecilia, for DD 4!)

bikerunski · 22/09/2008 09:28

This made my laugh. My two good friends in a particular circle of friends are Claudia and India! Claudia is a red head and India is blonde.

jasper · 21/09/2008 23:07

Claudine is unusual and fab

Klaw · 21/09/2008 23:03

actually, I think it depends on what she looks like and how the name fits with your family, so can't advise

Was just with the cutist little baby girl the other day who was called Cecily. And it reminded me of a woman I used to know called Celie which apparently was short for Cecily....

sorry I've been no help at all

jasper · 21/09/2008 22:59

both horrible

Nancy66 · 21/09/2008 22:49

Claudia - India (to me) is a bit Ab Fab

loobylu3 · 21/09/2008 22:33

Had to reply to your thread again as we seem to have v similar taste!

I definitely prefer Claudia to India.

It is also one of the names I am considering is baby 3 is a girl (although Cecily is higher on my list). I think it is pretty and classic without being overused. The only downside is the meaning though that wouldn't put me off personally.

I'm not too keen on India tbh. I'm afraid I just think of the country!!

Also really like Eve btw

Jodyray · 21/09/2008 18:30

Claudia i like best...but maybe thats cos my name is Claudine!!! lol

SlartyBartFast · 21/09/2008 18:27

actually you can't have it cos its taken

pgwithnumber3 · 21/09/2008 15:15

We have decided on Claudia as we already know an India and I haven't heard of one Claudia so it would be nice to be a bit unusual! DD1 has even started saying "when Claudia comes" which is really nice.

Love India but think Claudia is more classic and more suited to an older lady.

Imo India is not pretentious. Our DD is India (so obviously I think it is a beautiful name! ). However, if we had named her Indya for example, that really would be affected!

sweetkitty · 21/09/2008 12:46

Claudia

Like India too though
