Kitty is on our shortlist.
Only, though I love Kitty, I'm not sure if it is more of a nickname than a 'proper' name.
What do you think?
Neither of us LOVE Katherine which I guess is the obvious long version. Anything else that Kitty can be short for?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

My cousin is kitty, short for Nikita which i was extremly jealous of growing up, as it is exotic but could be shortened to Nikki or KItty

MrsMattie · 19/09/2008 14:34

It's cute, but maybe a bit too cute.

pgwithnumber3 · 19/09/2008 14:10

Love Kitty but I think it has to be quite a girly girl, if your DD turned out to be a football strip wearing tomboy, it just wouldn't look right. Love it though. Very cute.

Yes wot, Rose is the antichrist of middle names on Mumsnet! DD2 has the name Rose as her middle name. I fear I may never be accepted into the bosom of Mumsnet because of this.

FairLadyRantALot · 19/09/2008 13:50

oh dear wot...you just have made a "critical" mistake, lol....you mentioned Rose as a middlename

FairLadyRantALot · 19/09/2008 13:49

wot...lol....I thought you may have meant clear

The funny thing is, that ds could not get the v sound out properly in the name Ziva, but is perfectly capable to say Raven correctly, v sound and all, lol....

Raven is a wicked name! Especially if they grow up to become a goth. I would have loved to be called Raven when I was a teenager!
I'd probably feel that I'd have to have my hair dyed black though.
Kitty Rose is nice. I like the name Rose.

bettybee · 19/09/2008 13:45

i think kitty is a lovely pretty name and definitly
a name in its own right. i always wanted to use that
name but dh wouldnt let me cos he is quite traditional
but i love it, it is very feminine and pretty.
i dont think its a pets name any more than any other name,
like someone else said some pets are called greg or
whatever.
i would go for it.

ivykaty44 · 19/09/2008 13:44

Kitty can be short or exchanged for any name you would like - it wasn't uncommon in the past for babies to have their names compltly changed. My great uncle Bill has sadly past away, all his life he has been Bill (after his father) but his name was Alfred.....

This is not unusual and if you state on the birth certificate one name and tell everyone that your baby will be known as Kitty that is fine, name the baby Jane and let everyone call her Kitty.

It is your call - for the first 16 years anyhow

wotulookinat · 19/09/2008 13:41

I've written 'I should have been a bit more clean'!!!! Of course I mean clear. I am perfectly clean, freshly washed!

FairLadyRantALot · 19/09/2008 13:40

lol...our Kitten finally received it's name...originally she was meant to be Ziva, but ys could jsut not pronounce it for some strange reason, and she is now caled Raven, which is obviously also a human name...so was Ziva, though

I should have been a bit more clean, FairLady lol
I think it's a nice name - pretty.
My cat is called Terry. Doesn't mean that it can't be a human name too!

AbbaFan · 19/09/2008 13:37
