Loving the name Tansy but wondering if it is cute for a little girl but a bit naff for a young woman? Hmmmmm

Your thoughts most welcome [grin}

Really 'orrible, sorry.

MerlinsBeard · 17/09/2008 22:01

i don't like it- sorry. It sounds like you wanted to name your child after a flower (pansy) but changed your mind...i didn't know there was a flower called a Tansy

MadBadandDangerousToKnow · 17/09/2008 21:59

I think it's fine as a name. There are other flower names I like more - Primrose, Viola - but the views of a mad old biddy posting on the internet are irrelevant. Pick the name you like best.

frazzledoldbag34 · 17/09/2008 11:19

I know a grown up Tansy too.
Not keen, think it sounds a bit silly.
Suggest using it as a short / nickname for something else as others have said.
Sorry.

TrinityRhino · 17/09/2008 11:14

Tanzia

with the shortened tansy as her nickname

Stars22 · 17/09/2008 11:10

I think its ok, its not too unlike Tamzin and Tanya.

cherrylips · 17/09/2008 11:09

My cousin's dd is called Anastasia, and Tansy for short.

Marne · 17/09/2008 11:02

Tammie?

geminigirl · 17/09/2008 10:58

What about Tanita? Remember that singer Tanita Tikaram from some years ago?

MrsJohnCusack · 17/09/2008 10:55

ooh, no, she's a year older than me, so 35

MrsJohnCusack · 17/09/2008 10:54

there is FranSanDisco - she's in her twenties I think

Tansy Davies
I quite like it BTW

bozza · 17/09/2008 10:37

bozza · 17/09/2008 10:37

Tanya with Tansy as pet name?

kateri · 17/09/2008 10:10

Tanzania?

madrose · 16/09/2008 21:31

I like it

strummer · 16/09/2008 21:30

What about TaNsin with Tansy for short.
or
Tanni Grey-Thompson her name really is
Carys Davina "Tanni" Grey-Thompson

LynetteScavo · 16/09/2008 21:12

I really don't think its' to cute or girly. It's pretty, but could be carried off by a lawer, or arctic exporer for example. Not that there will be much arctic exploring left to do, but you know what I mean.

FranSanDisco · 16/09/2008 21:03

There is a composer called Tansy ??? I'm sure.

pointydog · 16/09/2008 20:59

Tamazapam

funnypeculiar · 16/09/2008 20:58

I like it & don't think it's too little/cutsey at all

Tansy is indeed a plant - widely used as medicinally too en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tansy

hellymelly · 16/09/2008 20:51

I think Tansy is a lovely name and not too little girly, rather elegant IMO.

GYo · 16/09/2008 20:48

I once knew a Tamazine.. slight twist on this...

dancedance · 16/09/2008 20:46

Sorry! it is cute sounding, and I like the meaning and that it's a flower (though a poisonous one I think )

angrypixie · 16/09/2008 20:30

I'm liking the response so far, well except the sunbeds
