Right...don't laugh!

I really love the name Tallulah! I've loved it for years, but in recent years a few celebs have used it, which to me has made it a celeb/chav name?! So, it has slightly put me off.

What are your thoughts, however harsh! Oh the Bugsy Malone thing doesn't bother me! rofl.

I also love Tallulah and don't get all these conotations about the name being "chavvy"...in who's opinion?! I actually like the Celtic spelling of this which is Talulla and means "Beloved, Lady, Princess"

FlirtyThirty · 30/09/2008 15:35

I love it as a name...and love Bugsy Malone too for that matter!
My DH would never go for it...so I'm very happy to hear that some little girl may get this fab name!

nuthacuppatea · 15/09/2008 18:39

I agree. It's a lovely name!

lou33 · 14/09/2008 22:02

i dont understand this celeb chav crap tbh

who decides this?
dd2 is neither thats for sure, and at nearly 12, it is only on mn that i hear any negativity about her name

tallulah is actually north american indian in derivation and means laughing water

there is a tallulah falls in georgia

you can make any name sound cheap and nasty , depending on the way you say it

wotulookinat · 14/09/2008 21:37

I have to say that honestly I don't like either name, but if I had to choose then it would be Eden.

Spidermama · 14/09/2008 21:37

My friend wanted to call her dd Tallulah but chickened out and went for another name instead which is now so popular, she's regretted it ever since.

I also know a Tula but I don't know if it's shortened from Tallula

nuthacuppatea · 14/09/2008 21:29

I'm having trouble choosing between Tallula and Eden for my baby due in 2 months. i love the name but have been told of the celeb / chav connection too. Apart from the coronation street / Eastenders babies, I'm not sure who they mean? I do love the fact that it is versatile in n names though. It's still quite unusual i would think.

angrypixie · 14/09/2008 21:04

Am loving Tally for a teenage girl

lou33 · 14/09/2008 19:31

her friends call her lula

frazzledoldbag34 · 14/09/2008 19:22

I quite like it. Not sure I'd use it myself but I think it's pretty. And agree - short names like Luly, Lulu, Lula, Tally etc are nice if Talulah becomes a bit of a mouthful.
If you've always loved it, then just DO IT!
Your baby, your name.

dd2 is a tallulah daisy

wellbalanced · 14/09/2008 13:20

Ive looked after 2 Tallulah's which puts me off the name but i also am not keen.

MrsMattie · 14/09/2008 12:12

It's a bit of a 'stage name'.

I'd feel sorry for a chubby/unattaractive/tomboyish/bookish/plain etc etc Tallulah. It's very glamourous and camp.

frankbestfriend · 14/09/2008 11:44

Tallulah is a lovely name with endless potential for nice nick names, especially Tally which I think is fab for an older girl.

giraffescantdancethetango · 14/09/2008 11:41

I know quite a few Tallulahs (nursery age chuildren) if you like it go for it.

ethanchristopher · 14/09/2008 11:38

i know an emo tallulah

who is an attention seeker and cuts her wrists and has carved "fat" into her belly

im sure they arent all like this tho...

FairLadyRantALot · 14/09/2008 10:26

Tallulah will always make me think of Maisie Mouse

Majeika · 14/09/2008 07:46

I like it

and there are lots of nnames for it too

iwantasecondone · 14/09/2008 07:43

It was on my short list til I married someone with an unsuitable surname for it. Lovely!

Buda · 14/09/2008 07:42

Oh - and I think it is quite cute.

Buda · 14/09/2008 07:42

There is a Tallulah at DS's school - head's DD in fact. She is also known at Tilly and Luly.

Tommy · 14/09/2008 06:56

I don't like it at all I'm afraid - but if you like it, go for it

sunshineonarainyday · 14/09/2008 06:47

It's cute, I like it

strummer · 14/09/2008 02:01
