... my BF and I were discussing baby names (a little sad I know as I'm not even pregnant + prob won't be for another 3/4 years BUT STILL!) and we really like a collection of three names, but our mate has rubbished the first one - I think they've lovely and have my heart SET on them regardless for the future... so indulge me ladies + tell me what you all think!

cillian (pronounced kill-ian)
lillie
cole

Cillian- horrible
Lillie- like the name but would spell it Lilly
Cole- Chavvy

TheNaughtiestGirlIsaMonitor · 14/09/2008 22:29

Victor is extremely cool. Victor Bruce and Donald were my favourite names when I was pg with son 3 and a half years ago and everybody just made a face back then...

TheNaughtiestGirlIsaMonitor · 14/09/2008 22:27

Killian is often spelt with a K even in Ireland. I knew one growing up so it's surprising to read all these "will be teased at school comments"

Cole sounds like the silly name to me.

And Lillie is just a bit, well, pretty but blah.

What about Jillian? For a girl obviously! I like that. Jilly a bit fresher than Lilly.

MrsMattie · 14/09/2008 21:40

Cillian (Kill-ee-un) is a fairly popular Irish boy's name.

Hulababy · 14/09/2008 21:17

cillian - I don;t like this, sorry
lillie - I like the name Lily, but really don;t like the spelling as Lilie
cole - Not for me, sorry.

frazzledoldbag34 · 14/09/2008 21:13

It sounds evil. It really does.
But if you like it.........

Majeika · 14/09/2008 21:06

it really is awful.....................

botherednanny · 14/09/2008 21:03

but I really like the name! and killian is just... TOO much.
or is it? especially with victor

KILLIAN VICTOR

it sounds like a superhero baddie.

Sorry, botherednanny! Sad but true......

FairLadyRantALot · 14/09/2008 11:19

frazzled, that was what I was thinking about...

JackieNo · 14/09/2008 10:51

I quite like Lillie - as in Lillie Langtry - or Lily. Not keen on Cole or Cillian, sorry.

frazzledoldbag34 · 14/09/2008 10:50

Aren't Cillia those little hairs inside of your nose that catch germs and mucus? (pronounced Sillia?) - I seem to remember from A-level biology lessons..........probably not a good name for a child!

The others are OK.

Bear in mind though by 3-4 years time you'll probably have heard some other horrors lovely names that you'll like even better!

SoupDragon · 14/09/2008 10:49

Lillie looks ridiculous. Cillian will forever be Silly Sillian (although I don't actually have a problem with the name pronounced properly IYSWIM) Cole? Doesn't really do it for me one way or another.

Majeika · 14/09/2008 10:46

you have to forget cillian or Silly-Anne as he will be called as people wont know how to say it

or Kill-Anne

No more

Nothing goes with it.

John is a nice name!!

botherednanny · 14/09/2008 10:45

if I could think of a similar name that reflected my heritage (scottish/indian/bajan) I would but I'm drawing blanks lol

although I do like victor (my grandads name) as a middle name but cole victor sounds doesn't work+cillian victor just sounds a bit OTT

OP posts:
macaco · 14/09/2008 09:34

Cillian is an irish name

Miaou · 14/09/2008 09:30

I knew a Killian when I lived on the West Coast of Scotland. He was a great hulking (but lovely) teen when I knew him, and it certainly suited him. But he was Killian with a K rather than a C - no confusion over pronounciation there.

FairLadyRantALot · 14/09/2008 09:16

there is a german name Kilian (pronounced- Kee-Lee-ahn)

Heated · 14/09/2008 09:14

Lily definitely. There are a loads of names that have the 'ie' ending without choosing one that's going to be misspelled.

No names with 'kill' in it.

botherednanny · 14/09/2008 09:00

not crazy about the name imogen actually, but it is kind of pretty I suppose... quite like 'imi' as a nickname... ooh I've just said it with my surname+it sounds very cute indeed

not sure about killian as opposed to cillian, quite like 'c' as the start of a name

OP posts:
Majeika · 14/09/2008 08:55

cillian has to go................

Imogen is lovely......................

not ruby

botherednanny · 14/09/2008 08:53

I cannot stand the name ruby, sorry.

I think its one of those names that everyone is giving to their kids atm... admittedly my views are based on a girl I loathe calling her DD ruby-rose but still!

although lily is bloody popular now isn't it? although hopefully won't be in 3/4 year...

am loving lilith and lillian thou

lillian, cillian and cole LOL maybe not. cillian would have to go methinks...

OP posts:
castille · 14/09/2008 08:49

Killian is popular in France these days. I don't like it, partic spelt with a C as no one will pronounce it right.
