I like it, It has a Thunderbirds link, a Steve McQueen link andof course the great Mr Grissom

But would it work?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

MaryAnnSingleton · 09/09/2008 14:21

All names have the potential for bullying, but IMHO Virgil demands it!

nice

I suppose I should just accept the inevitability that my DCs will be bullied for all sorts of things.

MamaG · 09/09/2008 14:17

meggle - oh, right! Sorry, yes the baby is fine and wriggly thank you

Minniethemoocher · 09/09/2008 14:17

No, it reminds me of Thunderbirds. Sorry....

Megglevache · 09/09/2008 14:17

Madam my kids have poncey names but they are easy enough to get around if they end up being wimpy with little specs and bits of string legs

Cies · 09/09/2008 14:16

No, don´t do it, please

ajm200 · 09/09/2008 14:16

I don't think it is acceptable, just inevitable.

MamaG · 09/09/2008 14:16

of course we would MadamAnt, don't be silly - none of us are condoning bullying in any way, we are just saying that if you can avoid making your child a target for bullies, then you probably should!

Megglevache · 09/09/2008 14:16

No that little pumpkin you are keeping warm- doh!

MadamAnt · 09/09/2008 14:15

Wow - quite sad that some posters apparently think it's acceptable for a child to be bullied for their name.

I'm so glad my DD goes to a school with children who have fabulously poncey names. If I ever heard her teasing any of them, she's get a stern talking to. Hope the rest of you would do the same.

MamaG · 09/09/2008 14:13

Meggle are you mixing me up with someone else?

Megglevache · 09/09/2008 14:12

Oye mamag how is pumpkin patch?

MamaG · 09/09/2008 14:11

MadamAnt yes, kids will pick up on anything if they want to bully another child but some names make a child too much of a target imo

Virgil being a prime example

(rofl at fanjo wash)

LilRedWG · 09/09/2008 14:11

All names have the potential for bullying, but IMHO Virgil demands it!

Olihan · 09/09/2008 14:09

It sounds like fanjo wash - Vagisil, is it? Don't do it to the poor child.

belgo · 09/09/2008 14:08

of course all names have the potential for bullying, but unfortunately Virgil the virgin doesn't even require any imagination.

Olihan · 09/09/2008 14:08

OMG No.

MadamAnt · 09/09/2008 14:07

Hairy Mary

Jane the pain

Molly the Wally

Lilly sucks willies

Matt the twat

Jack the jerk

Hmmm...are there any names that can't be made "teasable"?

Megglevache · 09/09/2008 14:06

Hehehehehehehhe

StellaDallas · 09/09/2008 14:06

I only know the name in the context of the great Latin poet, but even so I would say, possible not.
He will be nicknamed Virgin you know.

AvenaLife · 09/09/2008 14:05

I wouldn't. The poor thing would go through years of bullying at school and may never forgive you.

ajm200 · 09/09/2008 14:05

Children are cruel especially teens so I could imagine him being teased about his name at school. Lilred has a point

MadamAnt · 09/09/2008 14:05

I really really like it. In fact it was on my list of boys' names. It's a shame everyone focusses on the "bullying potential" angle.

If everyone just gave their children the names they liked best, the kids wouldn't be brainwashed into thinking that some names are acceptable, and some "deserve" bullying.
