It's a lovely name

nellyonthetelly · 07/09/2008 22:32

My cousin has a female Rowan, I think its beautiful!

frazzledoldbag34 · 07/09/2008 12:35

I had a hairdresser called Rowan....SHE was absolutely gorgeous.

MuchLessTiredNow · 07/09/2008 11:43

a friend had a dd called Rowan - my only point was that it was continually being mispronounced and it really wound her up - she said 'Rowan' like 'Cow-anne', whereas most people read it and called her 'rohen'

3andnomore · 07/09/2008 11:24

prefer it for a Boy, tbh

PeppermintPatty · 07/09/2008 11:17

I know a girl called Rowan too.
I love it

Poppycake · 07/09/2008 11:14

I was at school with a female Rowan - suited her down to the ground (or roots!!). Go for it!

foxytocin · 07/09/2008 11:11

What about Rowanne? Would that make it chavvy?

MrsJohnCusack · 07/09/2008 11:03

I didn't actually even think they were the same name either. Rowan being the tree and Rowena means fair or something

filthymindedvixen · 07/09/2008 11:01

I love it and if dsses had been girls, one would have been called Rowan. It's a tree FFS, how can it be male or female?
Rowena is a cop out.

There is a little girl called Rowan in the Whicker Man and that's where I go the idea from.
I didn't want to call my boy Rowan though I know boys called Rowan and it suits them beautifully.

piratecat · 07/09/2008 10:56

one of my best freinds has a little girl called Rowan. I like it, it's unusual without ponce!

MrsJohnCusack · 07/09/2008 10:50

Oh well, I stand corrected

I do know a woman called Rowan, and it suits her well.

belgo · 07/09/2008 10:35

Just been googling (obviously am very bored this sunday!) and it seems that Rowan is originally for a boy, but can also be used for a girl.

Prefer Rowena for a girl anyway.

belgo · 07/09/2008 10:33
