I can't muster any enthusiasm for any names

Expecting a DS next month (have a DD already), DH and I can't agree on names. Lost enthusiasm and can't find anything I really love - some I would be ok with but I haven't found any with that wow factor...sigh...

Love, Love, love Rueben and Jude and Joshua as I already have one!!!

bethdivine · 06/09/2008 21:33

I think Scarlett and Jude sound good together.

I'm guessing Rhett is out of the question??? - I actually like this and suggested it to DH - he nearly went for it as didn't know gone with the wind.

Yes Fabio that is the middle ground I had to find. But I don't think John or Peter goes with Scarlett!

Something classic, but not mainstream, there are lots of those names.

I think gus is the new max, and bruce is the new Gus! Victor is the new Oscar! Richie is the new Archie. Those names would really come to life on a gorgeous toddler. He'll make the name his own, and make it cool.

FabioBadAssCat · 06/09/2008 21:18

There is a name that will appeal to the traditionalist and also the woman who wants her ds to have a name few other boys have:

John.
Jonathan if you want to get fancy.

TheNaughtiestGirlIsaMonitor · 06/09/2008 21:15
  1. Ethan - too mainstream with your DD's name
  2. Leo - love this one.
  3. Finn - Nice but a bit soft. Your boy#'s name would be softer than your girl's name! I like finbar or Fintan better.
  4. Oscar - ok, but really predictable now. I think Victor is stronger, braver!
  5. Theo - Nice, but like Finn, a soft boy's name next to a strong girl's name.
  6. Jude - I like this one.
  7. Reuben - I likd this.
  8. Lawrence - Love Lawrie, and Lorcan which is gaelic for Lawrence.
  9. Elijah - I don't like bible names with Scarlett I think.
10. Felix - PERFECT with Scarlett. Scarlett and Felix . Oh yes, that sounds totally right. 11. Isaac - no, I like this, but not with Scarlett. 12. Joseph AGain, too conventional or something. 13. Joshua - OK. But blah also. 14. Lucas - like this one. Also Marcus and Magnus and Fergus. 15. Rio - I like this. But I'd never use it. 16. Rufus - I like this. Scarlett and Rufus sounds really good too. 17. Fran - I like Frankie ! 18. Jesse - hmm. Maybe. 19. Toby - I like it, but it's not a great match wiht Scarlett.

Felix, Rufus or Frankie

MY suggestions, Bruno, Victor, Richie, Donald, Bruce, Howard, Fergus, Magnus, Lorcan

hth!

we have 3 dds so have never had a chance to use any of the boys names we liked!

milfAKAmonkeymonkeymoomoo · 06/09/2008 21:11

MrsMattie - I think you have a good point

Maybe DH will concede anything after seeing me in labour again

my dd has a friend at nursery called Solly, I have assumed it must be short for Solomon. I think it is a really cute name. Our boy name was Alex Samuel if that's any help. We didn't start thinking about names until 6months into pregnancy - don't get hung up about it, I think you have a week or so until after the birth until you really need to register and make a decision
good luck

milfAKAmonkeymonkeymoomoo · 06/09/2008 21:10

I don't want anything too common but DH is a traditionalist

Bubbaloo · 06/09/2008 21:08

I like most of the names on your list, but especially Oscar and Ethan which we have used for our ds's.

MrsMattie · 06/09/2008 21:08

I'm the same. 28 weeks pregnant with no.2 and cannot be arsed to even think about names. There are none I love at the moment. I think I'll go for LynetteScavo's 'look at him/her when he/she is born and decide' method!

dizzydixies · 06/09/2008 21:06

what about Saul or Sonny?
Hugo
Herbie
Arthur - nn Art?

as long as you don't have problems with same initials

LynetteScavo · 06/09/2008 21:06

I like almost all of theose names!

I think you'll need to pick on e out of a hat.

Or wait untill he's born and look at him.

dizzydixies · 06/09/2008 21:05

I know a Scarlett with brother Tristan

what about

Roan
Corin
Nico
Cassius
Cassian
Rudy
Raphael
Luca
Leon
Joel
Elliot
Jacob

from your list I LOVE
Reuben
Jude
Rufus

dizzydixies · 06/09/2008 21:03

I felt I couldn't find one I absolutely LOVED - can you tell us some you like so we can make suggestions?

milfAKAmonkeymonkeymoomoo · 06/09/2008 21:03

Worried how boring I'm finding this task!

I was like that with girls names....what kind of thing have you been considering?

TheNaughtiestGirlIsaMonitor · 06/09/2008 20:57

Please tell us what your DD is called. That will give me an idea of your style.
