Morgan? Is this chavvy?

Always liked this name - in my mind I think of Morgan Le Fay & I've always thought of it as a bit ethereal. Just noticed though that Bianca on Eastenders has a daughter called this. I had it in mind for my next DD due Jan but this is making me reconsider. Don't usually watch EE -was at my mum's- & have only ever met one Morgan before. Has it become chav?

Just because someone is 'lower class' does not make them a chav. Chav's have acertain look.

trust me its a family thing we can have fun she laughs everyone call,s him jim !! we have such a big family a big caring family we don,t take offence at things ! sorry i did,nt mean freind she,s my neice and its her son romeo and honestly she does't take offence i have a big family my baby for instance is my mums 38th grandchild and she,s just had her 40th greatgrandcild you should see some of there names and none of them are the same

Chav is a vulgar term to describe this type of person.
It is more likely to be used by the lower classes sounds better.

we have a morgan in the family don,t really like it her mum and dad are what you all chav.s lol i love the name megan must admit !! maybe because i have a megan !! mind you i do also have a gary a stacey a matthew and a owen to !!

my freind called her baby boy romeo is that a chav name ?? and wonder were thay got it from !! i just call him jim lol

I embrace the word chav. I think it is perfectly apt for a small sub set of our population.

I think calling people chavvy is much more vulgar than giving your child a 'surname for a first name'

I've used it as a middle name for my DD, it was my mums maiden name. Wouldn't of used it as a first name though

We were thinking of using it as a middle name if we'd had a boy - Samuel Morgan.

Not keen as a first name though.

I think most people have heard of Morgan le Fay though. And I have met several female Morgans. The only reason for it to be seen as 'just a surname these days' is because people keep insisting that it is!

Can't people name their own children without withering remarks? I hate these threads.

the original meaning of Naughty was 'worthless', now it means something else. Morgan may have started as a first name (many surnames did), but it is predominantly a surname now, or a boys name in Wales

Morgan le Fay is quite an old usage of Morgan as a girl's first name though, isn't it? I don't see why people are insisting it's only a surname when clearly it isn't

I don't like surnames as first names.They are better for boys, not at all pretty for a girl.

i like it for a girl or boy. don't think it's too strongly associated with either gender.
