I know a 3 year old Lucien. Lovely name, lovely boy.

lollipopmother · 28/08/2008 17:17

Would it be shortened to Luke?

I like the name, it's different and you won't be getting thirteen replies when you shout at him across the playground!

LazyLinePainterJane · 28/08/2008 17:00

I think it's lovely.

brimfull · 28/08/2008 16:55

ninedragons - actually meant Lucian Freud but do love Pissaro too. You are lucky to have a drawing by him

I would love to be painted by Freud!

ninedragons · 28/08/2008 14:57

Sorry, got so carried away with formation of small fan-club with rosealbie that I forgot to say: really lovely name. Thumbs up.

ninedragons · 28/08/2008 14:55

Pissaro, rose? I have a tiny, tiny little ink drawing of Camden Town by him.

rosealbie · 28/08/2008 14:53

Don't know one personally but it is the name of my most favourite painter

biglips · 28/08/2008 14:50

OP posts:
stillstanding · 27/08/2008 13:14

Like it - good strong name and original

dinny · 27/08/2008 13:14

and am usually called Lu or Lucie

dinny · 27/08/2008 13:13

I am the female version of Lucien (Lucienne)

Botbot · 27/08/2008 13:12

I know one. In his late 30s. He's all right. Never gets shortened though - he is Lucian and nothing else.

QuintessentialShadow · 27/08/2008 13:09

well mrsmattie, you have to bear in mind that Lucifer was the angel of LIGHT, before the fall. In a way you can compare him to DarthVader. He wasnt always bad....

MrsMattie · 27/08/2008 13:02

Hate it. Makes me think of Lucifer!

Plus it's in the Crispin, Quentin 'posh, drippy bloke' category of names for me

LadyThompson · 27/08/2008 12:49

Ha ha. Thanks Quinty.

FabioTheFlouncingCat · 27/08/2008 12:35

I really like it.

It can be Lu-see-en/an
or
Looshan
or
combo of both.

QuintessentialShadow · 27/08/2008 12:32

You have Lucan the roman poet who was a nephew of Seneca, and you have Lucian the Syrian-Greek satirist and rhetoric, also known for being the first science fiction writer, with his accounts of extra terrestrial life.
There are also quite a few roman poets by name Lucius.

MamaG · 27/08/2008 11:37

I like it.

(Hatrick - how are you and baby doing? )

morningpaper · 27/08/2008 11:36

He is very very lovely

I think it's a great name
