with the Baby Names threads?
Just call your baby what you like when it is born ... and then people can get used to calling your baby Tooty Frooty Smith or whatever as it is a done deal ....

But please stop listing names like:

Dante
Hector
Edith (Does anyone remember "'Allo 'Allo")
Blaise
Milton
BAYARD??? WTF?

I can't stand it anymore ....

cool
Wasn't planning any more DCs but I'm tempted now.

Weegiemum · 28/08/2008 23:21

Sputnik you shoudl have insisted.

You could even have cancelled out the Cold War by calling dc Sputnik Apollo

Cool

southeastastra · 28/08/2008 22:52

sounds butch

southeastastra · 28/08/2008 22:52

i like orion

ghosty · 28/08/2008 22:51

And 'Orion' in Greek sounds much better than 'Orion' in English ...
Oor-e-on (with a slight emphasis on the Oor and a slight roll on the R)
Not Oh-ry-on IYSWIM?

I know a little boy called Orion but it's ok because he is greek and it is totally acceptable. His little brother is called Sios.
If they were from Milton Keynes I wouldn't be so forgiving.

And, stillstillstanding - No one puts ghosty in the corner ....

Ooooh I liked Merlin when I was pregnant first time (pregnancy hormones...?) and I do know someone called Orion.

3andnomore · 27/08/2008 21:45

lol..now people may snigger about my kids names...but with our first 2 he , as in dh,had real suggestions for names...didn't really ask that quesion by ds 3...ds 1 would have been Merlin and ds2 would have been Orion... if we had gone for his choice

my boys got of lightly

Sputnik · 27/08/2008 17:56

I wanted to do that.

But DH insisted on Neutrino.

Fimbo · 27/08/2008 15:40

I think we should just name all our dc after our MN names.

Fimbo for a child has a nice ring non?

stillstanding · 27/08/2008 15:36

how can you start a baby name thread, say stop starting baby name threads and then list a whole lot of baby names? back in your corner, ghosty

suedonim · 27/08/2008 15:32
papooshka · 27/08/2008 07:46

I'm quite new to MN and this is the first time I've looked at the baby names board, and I am nearly wetting myself - not hard when you are 24 weeks pregnant but I haven't laughed so hard for ages - at this thread and all the other weird names!!

thanks girls

3andnomore · 27/08/2008 07:28

lmao....choosy....that is quite funny

choosyfloosy · 27/08/2008 07:24

just looked through Active Convos and saw a thread starting 'Urticaria and Eczema...' and assumed it was a baby name thread. I think I need to go cold turkey on them for a bit.

3andnomore · 27/08/2008 07:18

now sue...Methusaleh would be a serious cool name for a tomcat....

When I was little we had a Tortoise called Amanda
Our one cat that did not get run over or run away was called Susi....she lived to the grandage of 18 years (iirc)
my grandmas grumpy weird looking dog was called Bobby....

suedonim · 27/08/2008 01:52

When I was a teenager my mum had a guinea pig called Hector. And a tortoise named Thaddeus.

I'm still waiting for a Mumsnettter to name a baby after my grandad - Methusaleh!

Weegiemum · 27/08/2008 01:25

Our Guniea pigs are called Zack and Ben.

Often mentioned here on the baby name threads.

well, Zachariah and Benjamin, as Guinea Pigs are distinguished creatures who need distinguished names!

suedonim · 27/08/2008 01:23

Actually, I might call our next cat Roy. It's due for a revival, I reckon.

purpleduck · 27/08/2008 01:13

ghosty, that list looks scarily like the "men I've had" list

S1ur · 27/08/2008 01:07

I like baby name threads.

They epitomise the pointless angst of pre-baby.
You have to read the poster's mind.
Adjust for fickle natures and hormones.
Predict worries and hangups relating to aunties called Mildred.
And then balance honesty with diplomacy.
Tis a perfect exercise in futility.

And there is no right answer to any of it.

ghosty · 27/08/2008 00:59
