this is my 3rd 'what do think you of this name' thread...somebody help me!

I am eternally grateful to anyone who can be bothered to look at this...I am getting bored with it myself

DH and I have now reached a stalemate.
the only names we can agree on are Nancy and Lola.

neither of them really do it for me, but are the least awful of DH's choices and the only ones that he likes of my choices.

Is lola getting too popular now?

I like both names.

A friend recommended the name Nancy to me as she reckoned it was ageless and classless and so would never be a handicap! Lola, I think, is very cool but in this neck of the woods it is overtaking Ella and Maia as the name most likely to be attached to the little moppet sipping organic pear juice in the park. There have been other threads about it, I'm sure.

Nancy is a derivative of Anne (originally of Annis), but has been it's own name too for a while. Lola is not (as yet) a name in it's own right.

I think you should go on looking to be honest. You both need to feel happy about what you choose. Could you try going through a baby naming book and pulling out a longer list? That's what my parents did (first my father crossed out the names he really didn't like, then my mother did the same; then they both wrote lists of the names they did really like, and shortlisted from that. I have friends who did the same and were reduced on only one name though )

Both lovely. I know a lot of Lolas now though. I know one Nancy and she's about six months old.

Lola - doesn't everyone just think Charlie and Lola every time they hear it?

I like Nancy - I'm sure I read somewhere that it started as a nickname for Ann. Or did I make that up?

Nancy´s nice. My step-grandmother was a Nancy. She was very smart and glam.

hmmmmmm. Lola is very popular and Dolores means pains..would put me off. Don't like Nancy at all, but no suggestions either I'm afraid. sorry.

Nancy is great. Sassy and pretty.

If names being popular put you off, then don't use Lola. My DS has two in his group at nursery and we know another through a music class.

Nancy is what ds2 wold have been called.I think Nancy is getting more popular than Lola though.But,it's your choice[obviously].Good luck.

Nancy is lovely. I'm personally not so keen on Lola as all I can think of is Charlie and Lola, but thats not exactly a bad thing is it.

My other favourite is Connie.

Topaz? (random, but I like it!)

I really like Lola though. I know a Lola who has a sister called Poppy. Lola is a better name than Poppy though IMO.

love this but doesnt go with my surname!

nancy is lovely and grows from childhood to suiting an adult

Lila - what about putting an h on the end to be different from Kate Moss - Lilah is very pretty.

If you like 'older' names, what about Emmeline? Good suffragette connotations too!

i like Lola but it does remind me of the song by the kinks which is about a transvestite called lola. If you can ignore that then i think its pretty

I love Nancy but find Lola a bit sexual.

IF you go for Lola, could you put Paloma or Eloise on the bc?

LOVE Nancy though. In the same category (imo) I lke Dulcie, Polly, Edith, Sadie, Maggie, Lois.

Maretta...that was my 1st baby name thread...! whether we should go for florence under the circumstances, most people on here and most of our friends agreed that we shouldn't because of Tesco.
however since then 2 friends have had babies called Florence, so that's put us off totally now!
