Love it. Have 3 month old Isaac James. Everyone comments on his name. Think it suits all ages. Can imagine teenage Isaac, grown up Isaac and old man Isaac. Think its trendy and classic at same time. Would it be wrong to call his bro Seth?

CuckooClockWorkOrange · 09/08/2008 18:01

It was on my list 3 yrs ago, and I like it, but now I'm glad I picked something else, a more classic name. I'm not Jewish and I'm not at all religious. Haven't sniffed a bible in 30 yrs. I would have been pikcing it for the wrong reasons, its trendiness. OR perhaps I am over analysing!!

tryingtoleave · 09/08/2008 15:17

'I like Ike' - that's our ds. It is popular - I thought it was unusual when I chose it but I hear 'zac' everywhere I go now. I didn't realise I was riding the biblical zeitgeist. We call ds Ike, or Ikey, although if he wants to be Zac when he gets older I can cope with it. My family (south africans) say Eye-sic (stress on the first syllable). My mil has been known to call him Itzhak (alternative hebrew version) which sets my teeth on edge. We say Eye-zac, but I think that is usual here in Oz.

BellaBear · 08/08/2008 19:49

Much nicer than the Hebrew version (Yitzak) (BellaBear points out something totally irrelevant to OP)

It was the name suggested by my Year 11 form (my son's surname is Cox) (say it out loud a few times)(using the eye-zuk pronunciation)

But I like it for other people's babies!

AreyoutherecodItsmeMargaret · 08/08/2008 19:41

its a lovely name. Much nicer than the usual suggestions posted on MN.

wotulookinat · 08/08/2008 19:29

I like it. Nice name.

mrz · 08/08/2008 19:21

here

noonki · 08/08/2008 18:49

I love it - getting v popular around here

and Eye- zac is just wrong! (Zuck most definately)

Quattrocento · 08/08/2008 18:41

What a nice idea, I love it!!

CountessDracula · 08/08/2008 18:39

love it

chatname · 08/08/2008 18:39

I love the meaning, which is laughter.

idontbelieveit · 08/08/2008 14:54

thanks everybody. We're really struggling to find any boys names we both like so if anyone has other suggestions then feel free to share them here.

don't like it

hw2004 · 07/08/2008 20:47

I love it but seem to be the only one in my family so it has been vetoed for me

I am surprised about all these different pronunciations. There is an Isaac in DS's nursery class and we always pronounce it 'eye-zuch'

izzybiz · 07/08/2008 14:16

My Ds1 wants this name for my Ds2 due next month!
We pronounce it I-zuck here too, I think it rolls off the tongue easier than I-zack.

frazzledoldbag34 · 07/08/2008 14:11

I quite like Isa for short?
I would pronounce Isaac as I-zuck not I-Zack.
Probably why I prefer Isa pronounced as Eye-Za (not I-Sa) obviously.
But hey, it's your baby, your baby name.

3andnomore · 07/08/2008 13:27

love the name Isaac....but would have never thought that it was pronounced eye-zik? doesn't really make sense to me.

lol hatrick how cam Ayo about then...not the obvious nickname choice....however, I actually know a bloke called Ayo....it's shortened from some name I could not pronounce, lol...but it started with Ayo....

barnsleybelle · 07/08/2008 13:23

I think it's a beautiful name. (But then it's my ds name). Everyone calls him zak which i love too.

Wonderful! (How is Peter?)

bikerunski · 07/08/2008 12:53

Sonnet · 07/08/2008 12:38

My dd2 would have been isaac ( not heard of many 8 years ago)
I love it

Jackstini · 07/08/2008 12:38

Like it a lot, although depends on your surname too

misdee · 07/08/2008 12:36

i love it.

dd2,3 and soon to be dd4 would've been isaac.

but it is becoming quite popular now, wasnt 6years ago when dd2 was due. so that does put me off a bit.
