So what do you think of Oscar? Which spelling Oscar or Oskar?

How about it Oscar Elliot Anchorsholme? Anchorsholme is the surname!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Elasticwoman - no, wasn't objecting to Oskar in the Tin Drum at all, was just saying it reminded me of him !

DeeRiguer · 07/08/2008 23:32

oscar statue also good role model

alot of them around these parts

LargeGlassofRed · 07/08/2008 23:26

ds is an Oscar he's 11 soon and I still love it he likes it too but hates his middle name,
Donald.

DonnyLass · 07/08/2008 23:15

Its a bugger when a lovely name gets used on TV ... there's an Oscar in Eastenders and that's wha contributes to popularity

Same happened with my dds name ... pop tune came out 6mo after she was born with her name and I was like oh noooooooooooo

but she totally suits it

and Oscar is a fabulous name -- popular or not

LynetteScavo · 07/08/2008 23:01

I love the name Bruno.

Agree Victor is the new Oscar

Elasticwoman · 07/08/2008 22:59

We had a cat called Bruno who died tragically.

seeker · 07/08/2008 22:56

My nephew is Oscar. I hated it at first, but they said it was either Oscar or Bruno - and suddenly Oscar seemed more attractive. And it really suits him now - and I can't imagine him called anything else. A phenomenon which I think applies to every name. Except Sequoia, Rainbow and Mayashallahashbaz.

TwoIfBySea · 07/08/2008 22:54

Well if people start picking up your baby and make weeping, long-winded speeches then don't say you weren't warned.

Elasticwoman · 07/08/2008 22:50

And why would you not want to be reminded of that epic tome mary ann?

MaryAnnSingleton · 07/08/2008 22:46

no, not keen, and Oskar reminds me of the Tin Drum

Twinklemegan · 07/08/2008 22:38

I know a Victor too, strangely.

Twinklemegan · 07/08/2008 22:37

I know 3 toddlers and one dog all called Oscar.

andyrobo237 · 07/08/2008 22:35

Oscar is the baby on Eastenders, along with Summer

Elasticwoman · 07/08/2008 22:20

I've got an Oscar. I thought I deserved one for my performance.

Oscar Wilde, Oskar Petersen, Oskar Schindler, Oscar Hammerstein, hero of The Tin Drum. All great role models.

Jacblue · 07/08/2008 21:18

Love the name Elliot, but Oscar just reminds me of The Grouch!

catinthehat · 07/08/2008 21:10

Whisky.
Don't forget Whisky.

and X ray

catinthehat · 07/08/2008 21:09

Hotel is good, Foxtrot as well and Tango.
Oscar and Victor, hmmmmm.

Hulababy · 07/08/2008 21:01

I like Oscar.

RoccocoFlourishes · 07/08/2008 20:36

It's ok.

I prefer Victor. Victor is the new Oscar. Be brave, use Victor. MUCH cooler. Lovely meaning too.

jammydodger · 07/08/2008 15:25

I too have an Oscar - gorgeous name. One of the best!!

DoubleBluff · 07/08/2008 15:22

oscar is a fantastic name wish i had used it!

LynetteScavo · 07/08/2008 15:21

What am I on about?

Oscar was rare when I chose it 5 years ago. Now every toddler group has at least 2 Oscars. I liked my DS having a slightly unusual name. Oh, well.

norkmaiden · 07/08/2008 14:11

lovely name

(what are you on about lynette?!!)

frazzledoldbag34 · 07/08/2008 14:08

I have a nephew also called Oscar.
Love Oscar and Elliot.

3andnomore · 07/08/2008 13:29
