After reading this thresd I think that anyone on MN who is considering a slightly unusual name that they are worried may be poncy, really needn't worry, because it is not going to be anywhere near as awful as some of these

Know an Amberley and a Paisley, same family

I worked with a little girl named Teeny once, so called as she was the youngest child of five, apparently. ????

A friend has Zsa Zsa, which I love but am far too boring and normal to name my child.

A boy called Bionick

nooka · 19/08/2008 21:39

My children are at a school in the States now and I was a little disappointed that all their classmates seem to have completely normal names. I guess the Korean names might be strange, but I don't speak enough Korean to know... Lots of Michaels, Andrews and Michelles.

Amberc · 19/08/2008 21:19

I like a lot of these names!
I have taught a J.J. - boy it wasn't short for anything
Wayne - girl, (obviously not english)poor thing always find out about foreign names before giving them to children, you never know where you might end up!
I went to school with Marlon Brando, his brothers were Errol Flynn Brando and Johnnie Brando, his dad had changed his name to Brando by deedpoll. Luckly Errol was quite hard so no one EVER took the micky.
At baby group at the moment there is a Xander and Django.
I have heard of twins Dolce and Gabanna

Petall · 18/08/2008 19:29

I went to school with Vietnamese sisters called Cookie & Candy and their dog was called Lolly!
Another family of boys called Wayne, Dwayne & Shayne who lived in Payne St.

My sister Sam and husband Tyson wanted to name their son Nelson, but thought it sounded like a pack of German Shepherd dogs, so called him Indigo Nelson instead!

Nursed a baby Savannah Breeze (Girl)

Sisters up the road are Precious, Faith & Meek.

I know a Mercedes, which is fine, but she went to a school called Mercedes.
I also know a shithead (pronounced shi-thay-ed)
and an 'Innocent Bystander' Bystander is her surname, well, it was before she got married.
