Would no doubt end up Sam or Ed / Eddie.

What to you think?

Love Samuel. Seriously considered it for ds, who ended up as a Matthew. I don't know if it is just still early days, but I am not sure that ds really suits his name now. Am honestly thinking about changing it to Samuel, but at 7 weeks old I am afraid that its too late!

PrincessPeaHead · 02/08/2008 13:21

edward is an excellent name
there are too many sams and not enough edwards around IMO

bikerunski · 02/08/2008 13:20

DC1 due in 5 weeks, will be Samuel if DS. I LOVE it and always have. But then, the cat is Eddie, so that was never in the running!

vanloadtovenice · 02/08/2008 12:34

Edward, no question. Sam mule, just don't like the way it sounds. If boys were my destiny (which they are clearly not!), would have had Edward with Ned for short.

katebee · 01/08/2008 22:22

Both are nice names but I much prefer Edward....I know of an Edward nicknamed "Teddy" which I quite like.

pointydog · 01/08/2008 22:04

Love Ed/Eddie

SorenLorensen · 01/08/2008 21:53

I know an Ed who is not an Edward - he's an Edmund. Only he doesn't tell anyone because of all the Blackadder jokes.

elijahblue · 01/08/2008 21:51

Samuel

WendyWeber · 01/08/2008 21:50

My Sam's best friend is an Ed btw

WendyWeber · 01/08/2008 21:49

I have a Samuel/Sam. I wanted to call him Nicholas (Nick/Nicky/Nico etc) but was outvoted (4-1) by rest of family

He is Sam mostly. Not at all wishy-washy though

HonoriaGlossop · 01/08/2008 21:32

Another vote for Edward from me. Lovely name.

Communion · 01/08/2008 21:28

Edward.

Love it.

Tortington · 01/08/2008 21:25

sammy or eddie ,hmmm

Boobz · 01/08/2008 21:22

Edward. Is my husband's name. He insists it's Edward, and introduces himself as such etc, but I would guess at least half of people shorten it to Ed, even though not invited to

Collision · 01/08/2008 21:21

Not keen on Edward but LOVE Ned

and I love Sam too

What about Edward Samuel

or

Samuel Edward?

I am sooooooooooo original!

I forget my Sam is called Samuel

Hulababy · 01/08/2008 21:17

I like both but prefer Edward. I like it shortned to Ned rather than Ed/Eddie. I do liek Samuel but not as keen on Sam.

girliefriend · 01/08/2008 21:08

frazzledoldbag34 · 01/08/2008 21:06

REIDmylips · 01/08/2008 20:32

i love Samuel!

olyoly · 01/08/2008 20:31

Edward is on my shortlist as well. It gets my vote! Samuel is nice, but seems quite popular.

bythepowerofgreyskull · 01/08/2008 18:15

Edward all the way if our surname didn't begin with T I would have called one of the boys it but couldn't get passed all the ET jokes.

clairebear88 · 01/08/2008 18:12

100% Samuel, i love it

jellybeans · 01/08/2008 17:22

Like Samuel, dislike Edward, too old fashioned.
