Hello all... I need some help. My DH and I have settled on calling our ds Legend Cougar or Cougar Legend. Which do you like better?

The only other option we will think of is Xander. Thanks for your help.

yes it is the ugly brother of the rather nice puma well the thunder is nice

i was offered one of these recently and i wish i had had it instead of getting my car repaired

VeniVidiVickiQV · 31/07/2008 10:18

Wasnt there an episode of friends where Phoebe suggested calling one of her triplets Cougar?

It's a great name......for a Gladiator.....

Personally, I'd not go for gladiator names, I'd go for superheroes. So, my next son would be called Wolverine. My next daughter would be called Wonderwoman.

Don't go the feline route, go canine

how about Howlin' Wolf apostrophe important I think

TigerFeet · 31/07/2008 10:17

There is a pub near our IL's house called The Flying Legends. We call it The Flying Leg Ends [childish]

Ford Cougar? (haven't read the whole post so apologies if has already been mentioned)

Honda Legend? (my neighbour had one of those!)

Sorry, but really just NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Xander is not bad tho.

zippitippitoes · 31/07/2008 10:09

clearly not for real

branflake81 · 31/07/2008 10:08

Cougar sounds like a kind of sports shoe.

You are not for real. I hope.

Ceelo · 31/07/2008 09:57

Um, sorry seeker but I don't think you won, I think they were having you on the whole time. I just read this whole post and am dying with laughter.

p.s. not so sure that opinions on baby names count as an argument anyway

seeker · 31/07/2008 09:52

You know you've won the argument when you descend to being rude! I just cannot understand why people ask for opinions and then get huffy when they get them!

zippitippitoes · 31/07/2008 09:49

im deffo a cougar myself

MrsPotatoHead · 31/07/2008 09:42

I greatly prefer Xander.

I actually misread Cougar as Codger initially. Which isn't 'fierce'.

Babstefani · 31/07/2008 09:39

Oh, and herecomethegirls, you can be my wingman any day.

Gorgeous names

Babstefani · 31/07/2008 09:37

I would be terribly sad if my child, with any name, met any of you in real life. Talk about a bunch of sad old cougars.... See ya, Maverick out!

VictorianSqualor · 31/07/2008 09:36

Xander.
We have an Alexander who is sometimes called Xander as a nickname.

Cougar is horrid.

Only use legend if you have a normal first name.

Cougar Legend? Walt Disney pictures may pinch it...

zippitippitoes · 31/07/2008 09:36

did you actually think you would get positive comments?

ninedragons · 31/07/2008 09:35

Look, if you really are serious about this name, you have picked the wrong forum to discuss it on. The names currently up for discussion include Isabella, Sebastian, Martha and Emmeline. What would you think people would say

It is like going to deathmetalchat.com and asking who was better, Brahms or Stravinsky.

Babstefani · 31/07/2008 09:35

Thanks MinkyChunky... it's nice to have one positive comment.

Seriously - just think about how your ds will feel when he's older. You are naming a whole person, not a baby. Listen to the views on here - think that he will meet people like us all his life. And think again.

gagarin · 31/07/2008 09:34

Tbh if you really are from california then you have a very free rein with naming - as his kindergarten register will also be full of unusual names.

I mean Tiger Woods has made it big. And his real first names are Eldrick Tont .

So if Cougar is what you really want - and you can look your teenage son in the eye and tell him you chose the name because it suited him when he was born then do it!

minkychunky · 31/07/2008 09:31

Cougar is great I prefer to Xander

HereComeTheGirls · 31/07/2008 09:29

Yes, he could open a wildlife park like the "Lion Man"..."Cougar Legend's big cat sanctuary"!!

ninedragons · 31/07/2008 09:26

The penny has just dropped that HCTG meant World Wrestling Federation. I was thinking World Wildlife Foundation.

Works for either, actually.
